HWiNFO version 8.54, released September 30, 2026, added ASIC Quality reporting for “newer NVIDIA GPUs,” but its release note does not identify every supported model. Confirm the software version, open the full hardware-information window, and verify that HWiNFO detects the NVIDIA adapter before treating the missing field as significant.
What the missing ASIC Quality field actually tells you
A blank or absent ASIC Quality entry does not by itself indicate a defective graphics card. HWiNFO’s version 8.54 history says only that reporting was added for “newer NVIDIA GPUs.” That wording describes a feature expansion, not a complete compatibility list. Unless HWiNFO publishes a model-specific note, support for a particular GeForce or workstation card remains unconfirmed.

The first diagnostic question is therefore not “What is my score?” but “Can this HWiNFO build report a score for this GPU, and is the GPU visible to the program?” A missing value can result from software version, user-interface mode, model coverage, or power-management state.

HWiNFO can start in Sensors-only mode. That mode opens the sensor panel and does not expose the main hardware-information tree. To inspect graphics-adapter details, close or exit the sensor-only view and relaunch HWiNFO with Sensors-only disabled. The full window has a navigation tree on the left; historical guidance from HWiNFO’s author places NVIDIA ASIC-related information under Video Adapter. The exact label or location of the newer percentage can vary by release, so do not assume that a missing entry in one tree branch proves the GPU is unsupported.

Check that you are looking for the right field
Older HWiNFO releases may show ASIC Manufacturer, while newer builds can show ASIC Quality. These are different data items. Seeing the manufacturer entry does not prove that the percentage is implemented for your card, and not seeing the manufacturer entry does not establish anything about current ASIC Quality support.
Check the HWiNFO version and NVIDIA model first
Use HWiNFO’s About information or the version shown by its installer to record the complete build number, then record the exact NVIDIA model reported in the adapter details. Version 8.54 was released on September 30, 2026 and is the release whose official history announces ASIC Quality reporting for newer NVIDIA GPUs.

If you are running an earlier build, update HWiNFO from its official distribution channel and test again. If you already have v8.54 or later, the model may still fall outside the unspecified “newer” coverage, or the adapter may not be fully detected.
Step-by-step troubleshooting
- Record the exact hardware. Note the complete NVIDIA model name, laptop or desktop platform, and whether integrated graphics are also present. “RTX 50-series” or “GeForce RTX” alone is not precise enough for a compatibility conclusion.
- Record the HWiNFO build. Check the About dialog or the installed program’s version. The v8.54 release date is September 30, 2026; a build from v8.52 or earlier predates the documented newer-GPU addition.
- Disable Sensors-only mode. Relaunch HWiNFO in its full mode so the main hardware tree is available. Sensors-only mode is sufficient for temperatures and clocks but not for navigating the complete adapter-information view.
- Confirm GPU detection. In the main window, look for the NVIDIA adapter under the video-adapter section. Check that the model, PCI information and other adapter details populate normally. If the adapter itself is absent, solve detection before investigating ASIC telemetry.
- Inspect ASIC-related entries. Look for an ASIC Quality percentage and separately for ASIC Manufacturer. Do not substitute one for the other, and do not expect a fixed tree path to remain identical across releases.
- Restart after waking the GPU. On a laptop with integrated and discrete graphics, switch to a mode or application that activates the NVIDIA adapter, then restart HWiNFO. Recheck the full information window while the discrete GPU is awake.
- Stop short of a hardware diagnosis. If the adapter is visible, HWiNFO is current, and the field remains absent, report the model and build when seeking support. The published release note does not provide a complete model matrix or a device-specific interpretation for a missing value.
Why hybrid-graphics laptops can hide the adapter
NVIDIA Optimus and similar hybrid-graphics arrangements can power down the discrete GPU when the system is using integrated graphics. HWiNFO’s known-issues documentation explains that a powered-down secondary adapter may disappear from the PCI bus. In that state, there is no ASIC data for HWiNFO to display because the device is not currently visible to the operating system.

HWiNFO may attempt to wake the GPU when it starts, but the documented behavior is not guaranteed on every laptop. If automatic activation fails, use the laptop maker’s graphics-mode control, connect an application that requires the discrete GPU, or apply another vendor-supported method to activate it. Then close and reopen HWiNFO. Avoid treating a sensor-only reading from integrated graphics as evidence about the NVIDIA adapter.
Is ASIC Manufacturer the same as ASIC Quality?
No. HWiNFO added NVIDIA ASIC Manufacturer reporting in v7.22, released March 30, 2022. Manufacturer identifies information associated with the chip’s fabrication data; it is not a percentage score. ASIC Quality is a separate report that HWiNFO’s v8.54 notes describe as available for newer NVIDIA GPUs.

This distinction explains a common support mismatch: one user may see an ASIC Manufacturer line while another expects a percentage called ASIC Quality. The presence of the first field does not establish support for the second on the same model or build.
What the ASIC Quality percentage means
The official HWiNFO note confirms the reporting feature but does not publish the calculation. A 2026 VideoCardz report, citing explanations from HWiNFO and overclocking-software developers, describes the value as a presentation of NVIDIA’s hardware-defined SPEEDO value. The software maps that value into a range defined for the particular GPU model.
That interpretation has three important limits:
- The percentage is model-relative. It is not a universal scale on which a score from one GPU model can be ranked directly against a score from another.
- It is not a percentile ranking of all manufactured GPUs and does not mean that a card outperforms that percentage of other cards.
- It does not guarantee a particular overclock, gaming frame rate, voltage behavior or power limit. SPEEDO is one hardware characteristic, not a complete prediction of system performance.
The RTX 5090 example
VideoCardz reported an RTX 5090 SPEEDO range of 2018.94 to 2284.87 and an owner-reported SPEEDO value of 2176 that mapped to approximately 59.06%. Those figures illustrate how a model-specific range can produce a percentage; they are not an NVIDIA benchmark, a population statistic, or proof that 59.06% is objectively good or bad.
Does HWiNFO show ASIC Quality on RTX 50-series cards?
Some newer cards may be covered by the v8.54 addition, but the official note does not enumerate the supported RTX 50-series models. “RTX 50-series” is therefore not a sufficient answer for an individual system. Check the exact model, current HWiNFO build, full information mode and adapter detection status. Treat any model-specific claim as unconfirmed unless HWiNFO publishes explicit compatibility information or the behavior is reproducibly verified for that release and device.
How to interpret common symptoms

Should you compare ASIC Quality values?
If you use the value at all, compare cards of the same GPU model under the same stock configuration and note the HWiNFO build. Even then, the percentage is best treated as descriptive telemetry rather than a buying or upgrade criterion. For purchase and performance decisions, use independent benchmarks, measured power behavior, cooling and noise results, warranty terms and the actual price. The available documentation does not establish ASIC Quality as a reliable substitute for those measurements.

There are three situations in which no corrective action may be possible: HWiNFO has not implemented the model, the release note’s “newer NVIDIA GPUs” wording excludes it, or the laptop’s power-management design keeps the discrete adapter offline during inspection. In each case, the absence of a percentage is a software or system-state limitation, not evidence that the silicon is inferior.
Use the exact model and build when asking HWiNFO support or consulting a later release history. A precise report—such as “NVIDIA model X, HWiNFO v8.54, full mode, adapter detected, ASIC Quality absent”—is far more useful than a generic statement that HWiNFO does not work.
