Lucy Montgomery, who voices Hibi, suggested that the character speak with a Liverpool-inspired accent. Fuse Games says the idea suited Hibi’s friendly, energetic personality and enthusiasm for repulsorcraft.
Who voices Hibi, and why does she sound Scouse?
Hibi is Shade’s Ardennian mechanic, a companion who tinkers with and upgrades vehicles. Actress Lucy Montgomery voices her. In Fuse Games’ official announcement, Music & Narrative Director Nathaniel Daw says Montgomery proposed a voice based on the Liverpool, or Scouse, accent.

“Hibi’s voice actor Lucy Montgomery was the one who first suggested a voice based on the Liverpool (or Scouse) accent and the moment we heard that we knew we’d found our Hibi,” Daw said.
Fuse’s brief for Hibi called for a friendly, welcoming presence with enthusiasm and passion for repulsorcraft. Daw described the desired delivery as loud, lively and lighthearted. The studio says Montgomery’s suggestion clicked with that character direction.

What was the creative director’s Liverpool connection?
Creative Director Kieran Crimmins has a personal connection to Liverpool: he told Game Up News, “So, all my family are from Liverpool, and I grew up up north.” The report also says Montgomery’s accent and energy reminded him of his auntie.
Those details add context to why the performance resonated with Crimmins, but they are separate from the origin of the idea: Daw credits Montgomery with suggesting the accent. The available account also says Montgomery is not from Liverpool; the Scouse basis was a performance choice, not a claim about her hometown.

Is the accent officially Scouse?
Fuse describes the voice as based on Liverpool or Scouse. That establishes the intended inspiration, not a formal linguistic assessment of how closely the performance matches a particular Liverpool variety. The “decent” in the headline is a subjective reaction, not a measured result or an audience survey.
