If you don’t have Siri AI on your iPhone, the most likely reason is that the phone, iOS version, language, or region does not meet Apple’s current beta requirements. Apple’s September 2026 requirements specify iOS 27 or later, an eligible iPhone, and English for both the device and Siri languages. Siri AI is also unavailable on iOS in the European Union, with a separate restriction for China mainland accounts.
First, check whether your iPhone is eligible
“Siri AI” refers to Apple’s new beta assistant, not ordinary Siri. Apple describes it as adding conversational abilities, personal context understanding, onscreen awareness, and broader world knowledge. An iPhone can run regular Siri without qualifying for Siri AI beta.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are not included in Apple’s eligible model list. If your phone is outside the listed families, changing settings or reinstalling iOS will not make it eligible.

Check the software, languages, and region
Install iOS 27 or later
Open Settings > General > Software Update and install the latest iOS version available for your phone. Apple says Siri AI beta requires iOS 27 or later; an eligible model on an older version will not meet the requirement.
Set both languages to English
Apple’s current Siri AI beta requirements specify English for both the iPhone’s device language and Siri language. Check Settings > General > Language & Region for the device language, then Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Language for Siri. Menu wording may vary slightly by iOS version.

Other Apple Intelligence features may support more languages, but support for one of those features does not mean Siri AI beta is available in that language. Apple notes that Siri availability and commands vary by language and country or region.
Check regional restrictions
Apple says Siri AI is unavailable on iOS in the European Union. It also says the feature will not work in China mainland when the Apple Account region is set to mainland China. The Apple Account region condition is specific: being physically in China mainland is not the same as Apple’s stated account-region restriction.

If your iPhone qualifies but Siri still does not respond
If your model, software, language, and region meet the requirements, troubleshoot ordinary Siri setup and connectivity. These checks address Siri not appearing or responding; they do not override Siri AI’s eligibility requirements.
- Check your internet connection. Connect to a working Wi-Fi network or cellular data and try Siri again.
- Confirm Siri is enabled. Open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and check the Siri activation options, including “Siri” or “Hey Siri,” where available.
- Repeat voice setup. If prompted, follow the on-screen steps to set up Siri’s voice recognition again.
- Try another way to invoke Siri. Use the side button or Type to Siri if those options are available on your device.
- Restart and update. Restart the iPhone, then check for an available software update.
- Check VPN settings if Siri is missing in Settings. Apple includes VPN settings among the things to check when Siri does not appear after a restart.
Should you upgrade your iPhone?
Upgrade only if your current model is outside Apple’s eligible list and access to Siri AI is important to you. If you already have an iPhone 15 Pro model, iPhone 16 or later, or iPhone Air, check iOS, both language settings, and regional availability before considering a new phone. Apple’s eligibility information does not identify an accessory or repair as a way to enable Siri AI.
