If the calendar opened from the Windows 11 taskbar clock starts its week on the wrong day, change Windows’ First day of week regional-format setting. The suggested path is Settings > Time & language > Language & region > Regional format > Change formats. Microsoft Community guidance identifies that control for the taskbar calendar, though Microsoft’s official taskbar documentation does not explicitly confirm the connection.
Change the first day of the week in Windows 11
- Open Settings > Time & language > Language & region.
- Expand Regional format, then select Change formats.
- Set First day of week to the day you want.
This path comes from Microsoft Community guidance in response to a Windows 11 taskbar-calendar question: Can’t change Windows 11 taskbar calendar starting day-of-the-week. Microsoft Learn explains that cultural and regional preferences affect date and time formatting, but does not specifically document this taskbar-calendar control: Globalize your date/time/number formats. The available documentation does not establish that the setting works identically on every Windows 11 build.

Make sure you are changing the taskbar calendar
The taskbar calendar is the flyout opened from the taskbar clock or notification area. Select the clock or notification bell, or press Windows key + N to open it. Microsoft’s taskbar guide describes the flyout and taskbar controls: Customize the Taskbar in Windows.
Outlook has its own first-day-of-week preferences. Changing a calendar view in new Outlook or Outlook on the web is not the same setting as Windows’ regional-format preference and should not be treated as the fix for the taskbar flyout. See Microsoft’s separate guides for changing how you view your Outlook calendar and Outlook on the web calendar settings.
