Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallA Roku streaming player should generally work with an LG TV that has a working HDMI input. If you see “No Signal,” a black screen, or a remote that will not control the TV, the cause is more likely to be the selected input, a loose connection, insufficient power, or a separate remote-control setup issue—not brand incompatibility. Work through the checks below in order.
First, check whether the problem is video or remote control
If the Roku home screen appears but the Roku remote will not turn the LG TV on or adjust its volume, the HDMI connection is working. Skip to the remote-control section. If the screen is black or says “No Signal,” follow the video checks first.

Fix a black screen or “No Signal”
1. Select the HDMI input Roku uses
- Note which HDMI port the Roku is plugged into, such as HDMI 1 or HDMI 2.
- On the LG remote, press the Input or Source control and select that same HDMI input.
- Wait briefly for the TV to detect the Roku signal. If the wrong input is selected, the TV may report “No Signal.”
Roku’s setup instructions likewise direct users to select the HDMI port number where the player is connected: Roku setup guidance.
2. Reseat the Roku connection and remove intermediaries
Make sure the Roku is firmly connected. If it uses a separate HDMI cable, unplug and reconnect both ends. If it is a Streaming Stick, remove it from the TV’s HDMI port and plug it back in securely. For this test, connect the Roku directly to the TV rather than routing it through a soundbar or AV receiver. That helps determine whether an intermediary is disrupting the signal.

3. Try a different HDMI port
Move the Roku to another HDMI port on the LG TV, then select that port using Input or Source. If the picture appears, the original port or its connection may be the issue. Roku’s black-screen troubleshooting guidance also recommends trying another HDMI connection.
4. Check the Roku’s power
A Roku powered from a TV USB port may not receive enough power. If the player displays a low-power warning or its light flashes red, connect it using the supplied power adapter to a wall outlet, then check the picture again. Roku includes power checks in its setup guidance and black-screen troubleshooting steps.

5. Test the player on another TV if possible
Connect the Roku to another TV with HDMI. If it works there, the issue is more likely related to the LG TV’s selected input, port, or connection. If it also fails on another TV, the Roku, its power supply, or—where applicable—its HDMI cable becomes more suspect. This test helps isolate the source; it does not, on its own, identify a specific repair.

Not necessarily. Try the correct input, reseat the connection, use another HDMI port, and check power before buying a cable. Roku recommends the included cable. If you do need a replacement, its cable guidance is:

| TV capability | Roku cable recommendation |
|---|---|
| 720p or 1080p | High Speed HDMI Cable |
| 4K and/or HDR | Premium High Speed HDMI Cable |
The cable recommendation applies to Roku players that use a separate HDMI cable. A Streaming Stick plugs directly into the TV and does not need one. To use 4K or HDR, both the Roku and TV must support the relevant feature. Roku’s HDMI and player guidance does not endorse a particular cable brand.
If the picture works but the remote will not control LG power or volume
Roku video and TV power/volume control are separate functions. If the Roku picture is visible but the remote will not control the LG TV, update the Roku software and repeat the TV-control setup. Roku says voice commands use HDMI-CEC, which must be enabled for those commands; some TVs support only some power and volume functions. CEC names and menu locations vary by TV model, so consult the manual or LG support information for your exact model rather than relying on a universal menu path. See Roku remote and TV-control guidance.

When the basic checks do not solve it
- If another HDMI port works, continue using that port and consult LG support if you need help with the original one.
- If the Roku works on another TV but not the LG, check the LG manual or support page for your exact model and software version.
- If the Roku fails on multiple TVs after checking its connection and power, consult Roku support for device-specific troubleshooting.
LG menu labels and HDMI-CEC settings can differ by model and software version, so there is no single reliable set of menu instructions for every LG TV.
