If your Logitech keyboard won’t type or keeps disconnecting, start by checking its power and connection—not by assuming it is broken. For a wireless model, check its charge or batteries, connect its receiver directly to the computer, and move the keyboard closer. For a wired model, try another USB port. Then test the keyboard or receiver on a second computer to help locate the fault.
First, identify what is failing
Note whether the whole keyboard is unresponsive, it disconnects intermittently, or only certain keys fail. Also check whether it is wired, uses a USB receiver, or connects another way; pairing and receiver guidance depends on the model. Think about recent changes: a move to a different USB port, a low battery, or connecting through a hub or dock can point toward the cause.
Logitech lists low battery, receiver placement, unsupported hubs or KVM switches, metal surfaces, wireless interference, and Windows USB power settings among possible causes. Start with the simple physical checks before changing software or buying parts.
Check power and the physical connection
Wireless keyboard
- Make sure the keyboard is switched on. Charge a rechargeable model, or fit fresh batteries in a model that uses replaceable batteries.
- Check the exact model’s documentation for battery type and quantity, charging connector, and indicator meanings; these details vary.
- If it charges over USB, try a different computer port without a hub. If its charging cable detaches, test a suitable alternate cable if available.
Wired keyboard
- Disconnect it and plug it directly into another USB port on the computer, not a hub or dock.
- If you are using a USB 3.0 port, Logitech recommends trying a USB 2.0 port.
- Try another computer if possible. This helps distinguish a keyboard issue from a problem with the first computer or its port.
For wireless troubleshooting, Logitech says, “Your receiver must be plugged directly into your computer.” Connect it directly while testing rather than through a hub, extender, or KVM switch.

For a wireless keyboard, check signal and pairing
Move the keyboard closer to its receiver and keep other wireless electronics away from the receiver while testing. Avoid a metal surface under the keyboard. If the connection was lost, use the pairing instructions for the exact keyboard and receiver family rather than trying generic reset steps.
Logitech identifies multiple receiver families, including common 2.4 GHz receivers, Unifying, and Logi Bolt. Its support page identifies 2.4 GHz receivers C-U0010 and C-U0019, Unifying receivers C-U0007 and C-U0008, and Logi Bolt receiver C-U0021 by model number and logo. Identify the receiver before pairing or replacing it; the available guidance does not establish that receiver families are interchangeable.

- Simply Wireless: Forget about drop-outs and delays thanks to a strong, reliable wireless connection with up to 33 ft range (5); K270 is compatible with Windows 7, 8, 10 or later
Logitech says a Unifying receiver can be unpaired and paired again. Its general guidance says a non-Unifying receiver cannot be unpaired, although a replacement may be paired using the appropriate utility. Because procedures differ, consult the instructions for your particular model and receiver.
Test the receiver and computer separately
- Plug the wireless receiver directly into a computer USB port.
- Try another USB port, then test the receiver on a second computer.
- On Windows, check Device Manager to see whether the product is listed. If it is a Unifying device, check it with the applicable Unifying software.
- If the receiver still is not recognized on the second computer, the receiver is more likely to be the problem. Logitech describes this as a likelihood, not proof.
Testing the keyboard itself on another computer is useful for both wired and wireless models. If it works there, focus on the original computer’s port, settings, or software. If the same fault follows the keyboard, consult model-specific support.

Check computer settings and Logitech software
Logitech lists Windows USB port power settings as a possible cause and its connection guidance includes disabling USB selective suspend. The menu path in that guidance may not match every Windows release, so check instructions for your Windows version rather than following a legacy path blindly.
Logitech’s support pages say the Connection Utility, Firmware Update Tool, Unifying Software, SetPoint, Logitech Preference Manager, and Logitech Control Center are no longer supported or maintained. Logitech recommends Logi Options+ for devices it supports, but not every keyboard is supported by that software. Use the download and support page for your exact model and operating system; do not install an old utility as a general fix.

- Use compressed air or a soft brush to clear dust and debris around the affected key.
- Reconnect or resync the keyboard using the model-specific instructions.
- Test the keyboard on another computer to see whether the same key behaves the same way.
- Check the computer’s keyboard settings, including Sticky Keys or Repeat Delay.
Do not force a keycap or switch back into place. If cleaning and settings checks do not resolve the problem, contact Logitech Support for model-specific advice.
When to contact Logitech Support
If power, direct connection, and second-computer checks do not resolve the issue, use Logitech’s official support and warranty routes with the exact product model and relevant purchase information. The general troubleshooting guidance does not guarantee warranty eligibility, repair, or replacement; the outcome depends on the product and case.
