Chrome’s built-in PDF export is Print → Save as PDF, but a blank PDF does not point to one confirmed cause. First check whether the print preview is blank, then compare another webpage and—if the content is a PDF—open it directly in Chrome’s PDF viewer. Those checks narrow down where the problem occurs without assuming a universal fix.
Start by checking the print preview
Open Chrome’s print dialog with File → Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux and Command+P on Mac. Choose Save as PDF as the destination, then inspect the preview before saving. These are Chrome’s documented desktop printing steps (Google Chrome Help: Print from Chrome).

- If the preview is blank: the issue is present by the time Chrome renders the preview. This is a useful troubleshooting distinction, not a confirmed diagnosis of the cause.
- If the preview looks right but the saved PDF is blank: the result points to a problem later in the workflow, but does not identify which part failed.
If the preview is correct, save the file and open it in a PDF viewer to confirm whether the saved document is actually blank.

Try another webpage
Print a second, unrelated webpage using the same Chrome window and settings. If that page works, the problem appears limited to the original page; the comparison cannot establish whether its print layout, scripts, or another page-specific factor is responsible.

Compare with another browser
Try printing the same URL from another browser. If it works there but not in Chrome, that narrows the symptom to the browser or its handling of that page, but still does not confirm a specific cause. Chrome Community posts describe blank print previews and output, including a report where another browser worked; these are user reports, not evidence of prevalence or a general Chrome defect (Chrome Community).
If the page contains an embedded PDF
A PDF displayed inside a webpage follows a different path from an ordinary webpage. If the surrounding page is blank or the printout is empty, open the PDF in its own tab if possible, then print using the PDF viewer’s controls. Google’s Chrome guidance covers opening PDFs in Chrome or downloading them and lists chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments as the PDF handling setting (Google Chrome Help: Manage PDFs in Chrome).

A Chrome Community Product Expert suggested opening an embedded PDF directly or using its viewer print control for a specific case involving an about:blank wrapper. Treat that as a case-specific workaround, not a universal fix (Chrome Community: CTRL + P does not work properly on about:blank pages).
