Why D.A. Davidson Raised Micron’s Price Target to $3,000

D.A. Davidson’s $3,000 Micron target rests on expected memory growth and a belief that investors may not yet recognize the company’s full value.

D.A. Davidson raised its price target on Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU) to $3,000 from $2,100 and kept its Buy rating, according to reporting published October 7, 2026. The rationale combines a multi-year memory-growth outlook with a separate valuation argument: analyst Gil Luria believes investors have yet to fully recognize Micron’s value, leaving room for its valuation multiple to rise. The growth and supply assumptions are analyst expectations, not company guidance or guaranteed outcomes.

What changed in D.A. Davidson’s call?

The firm lifted its target by $900, from $2,100 to $3,000, while maintaining a Buy rating. The target and rating were reported by TipRanks in TheFly coverage published October 7, 2026: TheFly report via TipRanks.

Why does the analyst think Micron could be worth more?

Investors may not yet recognize the company’s value

Luria’s reported argument is not only that Micron could sell more memory. Following meetings with Micron’s investor-relations team, D.A. Davidson concluded that investors were still early in understanding the company’s value. If the market comes to recognize that value, the analyst believes Micron could receive a higher valuation multiple—the price investors are willing to pay relative to measures such as earnings.

That distinction matters: stronger operating results and a higher multiple are different contributors to a share-price thesis. The reporting describes the multiple-reappraisal idea but does not disclose the full valuation model needed to calculate how much of the $3,000 target depends on it.

A growth thesis spanning several years

Related TipRanks coverage characterizes Luria’s outlook as a three-to-five-year growth opportunity, with AI systems supporting stronger demand for memory. It also reports his expectation that memory demand will remain ahead of supply in 2027 and 2028. These are forward-looking views, not confirmed future market conditions or Micron guidance. See TipRanks’ related coverage.

What revenue forecasts were reported?

TipRanks reported that Luria forecast Micron fiscal 2027 revenue of $255.5 billion, compared with $133.2 billion for fiscal 2026. Both figures are D.A. Davidson analyst estimates as reported in 2026—not actual results, company guidance, or assured revenue. They indicate the scale of growth embedded in the thesis, but the available reporting does not provide the detailed earnings assumptions needed to assess how the estimates translate into the target.

What the reporting does—and does not—explain

The available accounts identify the target change, the investor-recognition argument, and the broad demand outlook. They do not provide D.A. Davidson’s complete valuation model, detailed earnings-per-share assumptions, or a precise horizon for the $3,000 target. As a result, readers cannot independently derive the target from the published figures alone. The target is an analyst opinion, not a forecast that Micron shares will necessarily reach that price.

The short quotations attributed to Luria in the October 7 coverage are reported through TipRanks and TheFly; the original D.A. Davidson note was not available for direct verification. The rationale is therefore best read as a reported summary of the analyst’s view, rather than a complete account of the underlying research.
