Android notes usually stop appearing on another device because the devices are offline, the app is signed into the wrong account, or that app’s sync setting or destination is not what you expect. Start by checking the account and connection on both devices, then follow the steps for Google Keep, Microsoft OneNote, or Samsung Notes below. Before clearing app data, signing out, reinstalling, or deleting a duplicate, protect any edits that may exist only on your phone.
Start with the safe checks
- Identify the destination. Is the note supposed to appear in the same app on another phone, in a web app, or in a computer program? The answer matters: Samsung Notes, for example, can sync to Samsung Cloud or send selected folders to a Microsoft OneNote feed, and those are not the same destination.
- Check connectivity on both devices. Open a webpage or otherwise confirm that each device has internet access. A weak connection can delay syncing or contribute to a conflict notice in Google Keep.
- Check the account used by the app on each device. Confirm that the note app is signed into the intended Google, Microsoft, or Samsung account. A note can seem missing if the other device is using a different account.
- Look for sync status or an error. Read any conflict prompt, warning, or sync icon before trying to reset the app. The message may identify the problem more directly than a general troubleshooting step.
- Protect unsynced edits. If you have changed a note offline, confirm that those changes exist in the cloud or copy them somewhere editable before signing out, clearing data, reinstalling, or deleting a duplicate.
Troubleshoot Google Keep
Keep notes are associated with a Google Account. On the phone, check that Keep is using the account where the note should live and that account sync for Keep is enabled. Google’s steps are in Google Keep’s Android troubleshooting guide; Android menu names can vary by device and version.
Check Keep account sync
- Open Android Settings.
- Open Accounts (the label or location may differ by Android version or manufacturer) and select the relevant Google Account.
- Find the account’s sync settings and make sure Keep sync is on. Google notes that some account-sync steps apply only to Android 14 and later.
- Open Keep and verify that it is signed into the same Google Account expected to contain the note.
Check shared notes and conflicts
- For a shared note, confirm that its owner still shares it with the account you are using. Google says a different account or sharing that has stopped can explain missing access.
- If Keep shows a conflict, inspect both versions before choosing. Offline edits on another device can create competing versions; Google also identifies a weak Wi-Fi connection as a possible trigger. Keep the version you need, or keep both if you are unsure.
- If Keep is reloading and notes have not all returned, give it time to download them over a strong connection. Google says notes can also be viewed on Keep on the web; do not assume a reload is instantaneous.
- Install an available Keep update through your app store if the app is out of date.
Troubleshoot Microsoft OneNote
For OneNote, first make sure the notebook is available in the intended Microsoft account and that the device is online. OneNote syncs automatically as you move between notes and sections, but Android also has a manual Sync all control. Microsoft’s instructions are at Sync a notebook in OneNote.
Run a manual sync and check the network preference
- In OneNote for Android, open the Notebooks area and then Settings; use Sync all. The exact route can vary by app version.
- In OneNote settings, check Sync Notebooks on Wifi only. If it is enabled, changes may wait while the phone is using mobile data.
- Return to the notebook and look for a red sync icon or an error. Read its details instead of assuming all sync failures have the same cause.
For notebooks hosted on OneDrive, Microsoft also advises checking OneDrive service health. Its general OneNote sync troubleshooting page includes guidance for multiple platforms; follow only the steps that apply to Android rather than treating Windows-specific instructions as Android steps.

Handle read-only misplaced notes carefully
Microsoft documents a particular Android update issue in which unsynced copies can appear in read-only Misplaced Sections. This is a specific recovery case, not the usual explanation for sync trouble. Compare the read-only copy with the editable original and manually transfer any unique edits into the original. Troubleshoot Samsung Notes
First decide where you expect the note to appear. Samsung Notes syncing with Samsung Cloud across Galaxy devices is different from sending selected Samsung Notes folders to the Microsoft OneNote feed. Check the destination and account before changing settings.

Samsung Cloud sync between Galaxy devices
For notes expected on another Galaxy device, check that both devices use the intended Samsung account and that Samsung Notes sync with Samsung Cloud is enabled in the app’s settings. Samsung describes its notes features and settings in Samsung Notes support. Available settings and menus may vary by device and software version.
Selected folders in the Microsoft OneNote feed
The OneNote feed integration is a separate arrangement: it requires signing in to Microsoft, selecting the Samsung Notes folders to sync, and enabling sync. It does not make feed notes an editable replacement for Samsung Notes; Samsung says notes in the feed cannot be edited or removed from Samsung Notes through that feed. If the missing item is an AI-translated PDF overlay, Samsung states that these overlays do not support synchronization, sharing, saving, or backup and restore. That limitation applies to this specific type of overlay, not to ordinary Samsung Notes generally.

If the right account, app-specific sync options, network, and notebook or folder selection are all correct, check the relevant provider’s current service status or support page. A service incident can interrupt syncing, and there is no universal sync time that applies to every Android note app.

- Do not clear app data, sign out, or reinstall until you have confirmed important local edits are safely stored in the cloud or copied to an editable location.
- Do not delete a duplicate simply because one version is read-only or looks older. Compare versions and preserve unique changes first.
- When an app reports a conflict, resolve it by reviewing the versions rather than discarding one blindly.
