Android’s scrolling screenshot feature is conditional: on Android 12 and later, it works on most screens that allow scrolling, not all of them. If Capture more is missing, the app’s interface may not support the system’s capture process; it does not automatically mean your phone’s scrolling is broken.
How to take a scrolling screenshot on Android
- Check your Android version. Google’s general instructions apply to devices running Android 12 and up.
- Open the content you want to capture. Start on the page or screen that actually scrolls, rather than the home screen or an unrelated menu.
- Press Power and Volume down at the same time.
- Look for Capture more. If it appears, tap it, then adjust the crop guides to select how much of the page to include.
Google describes this method as working “on most screens that allow you to scroll,” not as a guarantee for every app or page. Google’s Android screenshot instructions direct users to their phone manufacturer’s support site when the standard method does not work.

Why a scrollable screen may not offer Capture more
Being able to scroll a screen with your finger is not enough by itself. Android needs the app’s content to be available to the scrolling-screenshot capture system. That is why a page can scroll normally while the screenshot interface has no Capture more option.

The Android 12 announcement says scrolling screenshots work out of the box for most apps using the standard View-based UI. For apps using non-View toolkits or highly customized interfaces, developers may need to add support through the ScrollCapture API. That API gives Android a way to identify a scrolling target and obtain rendered snapshots of its content.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

The current ScrollCaptureCallback API reference describes a callback as responsible for providing “rendered snapshots of scrolling content” to the capture system. In practical terms, the screenshot feature relies on the app presenting its content through a compatible path; it is not simply a promise that Android can join together screenshots of anything that happens to scroll.
What to try when Capture more is missing
- Verify that the device runs Android 12 or later. The general Google instructions set that as the baseline.
- Repeat the shortcut on the actual scrolling content. Press Power and Volume down together while the page you want is open.
- Try another ordinary screen that visibly scrolls. If Capture more appears there but not in the original app, that points to a difference in screen or app support—not proof that the phone is defective.
- Check device-specific guidance. If the standard shortcut does not work, Google advises consulting the phone manufacturer’s support site for that device’s controls and behavior.
What the general guidance can—and cannot—tell you
Google’s Android Help gives a broad Android 12-and-up method and qualifies it to “most” scrollable screens. It does not provide a compatibility list covering every phone maker’s software, browser, or individual app. Android’s developer material explains why app-interface support matters, but it does not establish that a particular browser or named app always works or fails. For a specific device or app, current manufacturer or app guidance is the relevant source.
