If a show is missing from your streaming app, the cause may be its release date or regional licensing—not your device. First work out whether it is absent from search or appears but cannot play; then check the country, profile, and location settings before trying app troubleshooting.
First, identify what “missing” means
There are two different symptoms: the title does not appear in search or browsing, or it appears but the app says it is unavailable when you select it. The first is often about the catalog or profile settings. A regional error points toward location detection or regional rights. Freezing, buffering, or an error during playback is more likely to call for technical troubleshooting.

Note the streaming service and the country you are currently in. Catalogs vary by country and service, so a listing you saw elsewhere does not establish that the title is available to your account. Netflix says regional rights can be unavailable, split among multiple owners, or exclusive to another platform; regional popularity can also affect what it offers. Netflix explains why a show or movie may not be available in your country.

Check whether the title is in your local catalog
It may not have released locally
A show can be listed in one country and not yet be available in another because its local release has not happened. Netflix also lists rights unavailable for the viewer’s region as a reason a title may not be found. Check the service’s own title listing or announcements for your country rather than relying on a listing from another region. Netflix’s missing-title guidance covers both release timing and regional rights.

It may have left after a licensing change
Streaming catalogs change when licenses expire or are not renewed. Netflix says it considers whether rights remain available, regional popularity, and licensing cost, and says it gives notice when a title is about to leave. That explanation does not confirm the status or departure date of any particular show. Netflix explains why shows and movies leave its service.
Inspect the selected profile
On Netflix, a profile’s maturity rating, a blocked-title setting, or profile language can affect what appears. Check the profile currently in use before changing account-wide settings:

Check VPN use, travel, or a recent move
A VPN can change the catalog the service presents or trigger a regional availability message. Netflix says VPN use may limit visible titles to those available globally, and advises turning off a VPN if you receive its current-region error. It also notes that the service may fail to determine your country.

For freezing, buffering, or playback errors, troubleshoot the app
If the title is present but playback freezes, stops, buffers, or returns an error, an app or device issue is more plausible than a missing catalog listing. Prime Video’s playback guidance recommends these checks; they are not universal fixes for every service:

- Close and reopen Prime Video or the browser you are using.
- Check that the device’s date and time are set automatically.
- Deactivate any VPN or proxy server, then try playback again.
- Restart the device. Prime Video’s guidance says to leave it powered off for at least 60 seconds before turning it back on.
- Install available updates for the app, device, or browser.
- If the problem continues, reinstall the app.
See Prime Video’s troubleshooting steps for freezing, stopping, buffering, and error codes. Because those instructions address playback problems, they cannot restore a title that the service does not have rights to show in your region.

| What you see | What to check first |
|---|---|
| Title absent from search or browsing | Local release and catalog rights; then the selected profile’s maturity, blocked-title, and language settings. Netflix lists these as possible causes. Source. |
| Title appears, but a regional message blocks it | VPN or proxy use and location detection; Netflix recommends turning off a VPN for its current-region error. Source. |

If the title is absent after these checks, the service may simply not offer it in your country at this time. Device resets, DNS changes, or new hardware cannot grant streaming rights that the service does not have.
