A delayed or rejected Kraken bank transfer is usually caused by a missing deposit reference, incorrect transfer details, a name or ownership mismatch, an unsupported payment method or destination, a limit, or a bank or security review. Check the transaction status first, then compare your bank receipt with the exact instructions in Kraken’s signed-in funding page. Processing estimates vary by region, bank and payment rail; they are not guarantees.
Start by checking the transfer status
For a deposit
Look for a deposit status in your Kraken account. If no status appears, the funds may not have reached Kraken’s bank yet, or Kraken may be unable to match the transfer because a required reference was omitted. Check the expected processing window for the method you used before treating an in-flight transfer as missing. Kraken’s delayed-deposit guidance explains these status checks.

For a withdrawal
Check the withdrawal status in Kraken and confirm that the saved destination bank details are correct. If the bank rejected or returned the transfer, the destination details or the bank’s policy on transfers involving crypto exchanges may be the issue.

Compare the receipt with Kraken’s current instructions
Open the funding page while signed in and compare the bank receipt against the recipient details, currency, payment rail and any required deposit reference. Methods and instructions can vary by region and account, so use the details shown for your account rather than an old receipt or a general online list. Kraken’s cash deposit options page also warns that method-specific processing information can change.

Make sure the reference reaches the recipient
If Kraken provides a reference, enter it in a bank field that is transmitted to the recipient. Banks may label that field “Message to receiver,” “Reference,” “Originator to Beneficiary Information (OBI),” or “Remittance Information.” Some banks also offer internal-only notes that Kraken will not receive. If you are unsure which field is transmitted, ask your bank. Without a required reference, Kraken may need to assign the funds manually and ask you for proof that they came from your bank. Check that you used the right payment rail
A transfer sent using a different rail from the one Kraken instructed may fail. For example, Kraken warns that a Fedwire deposit sent as ACH will fail; returning the funds to the sending bank may take up to 10 business days. This warning concerns that specific Fedwire/ACH mismatch, not every transfer sent using the wrong method. Kraken’s guidance describes the return timeframe.

Check account ownership, limits and duplicate deposits
- Match the names. Kraken says the sending bank account name must match the Kraken account name. A personal Kraken account should be funded from a personal bank account in the same name; business funds should go to a Kraken business account. A joint account may be used if one account holder’s name matches the Kraken account.
- Check the minimum and your account limits. A deposit below the method minimum or above a daily or monthly account limit may not process normally. Limits vary with factors such as verification status, residence, transaction activity, account tenure and asset, and can change. Use the limits shown for your account rather than assuming a universal threshold.
- Watch for repeated identical amounts. Multiple deposits of the same amount within 72 hours may be flagged as possible duplicates. Kraken recommends using different amounts for multiple deposits.

Confirm the currency, source and destination are supported
Currency and method
The currency sent must match the currency of the selected deposit method. For instance, send EUR using an EUR method displayed in your funding page. A currency mismatch can lead to a return and charges. Which methods are available depends on geography and account; the signed-in funding page is the current source for your instructions. Third-party sources and destinations
Kraken may accept deposits from a third-party payment processor if it can verify the source of funds, but the deposit may be held if the institution’s name does not match yours. Withdrawals to a third-party processor, brokerage, or another account not in your name are unsupported and may be rejected or returned. Review Kraken’s guidance on third-party funding and make sure the destination belongs to you.
Bank restrictions
A bank may refuse a transfer involving a crypto exchange. Ask your bank whether it accepts that type of transfer and whether it imposed a restriction on your account. Kraken says some rejected destinations may be blocked on its system to prevent repeated failed withdrawals. Its withdrawal error guidance covers rejected destinations and transfer details.

Tell a delay, hold and return apart
A transfer that has not arrived is not necessarily rejected. Bank processing and holidays can extend the wait, and Kraken says its processing estimates are outside its control. A hold is also different from a rejection: it means the funds may need review before they can be credited or released.

In some cases Kraken cannot release the deposit and the funds must be returned. Follow any account notice or Support instructions rather than sending the money again. Use processing estimates as a guide, not a promise
There is no single arrival time for every Kraken bank transfer. The estimate depends on whether it is a deposit or withdrawal, the region, currency, payment rail and bank. Kraken’s cash-deposit options page, last updated October 1, 2026, listed examples of near-instant for eligible US ACH Plaid deposits, 0–1 business day for US FedWire and 1–3 business days for worldwide SWIFT via Customers Bank. These are method-specific estimates, not guaranteed arrival times; availability and timing can change. Check your signed-in funding page for current details. Kraken states that processing times are estimates and outside its control.
When to contact Kraken or your bank
- For a missing deposit: Check its status, receipt, reference, currency, transfer rail, bank holidays and the expected processing window. If it remains missing after those checks and the stated timeframe, contact Kraken Support.
- For a held deposit: Read the notice in your account and follow any request for verification or documents. Contact Kraken Support if the notice does not explain what is needed or the hold requires review.
- For a rejected or returned withdrawal: Verify the bank details saved in Kraken, then ask your bank whether it accepts transfers involving crypto exchanges. If Kraken indicates that the destination is blocked, do not keep retrying it.
Kraken specifically warns customers not to contact its funding providers or payment processors about funding issues because doing so can cause additional delays.
