Sharp appliances are made by Sharp Corporation and its affiliated manufacturing companies. Sharp Corporation is headquartered in Osaka, Japan, but Sharp-branded appliances are manufactured in multiple countries. The factory for a particular appliance depends on its category, model, and sales market; the brand or headquarters alone does not establish where an individual unit was made.
Who makes Sharp appliances?
Sharp Corporation is the Japan-headquartered company behind the Sharp appliance brand. Its corporate overview describes its business as manufacturing and selling telecommunications equipment, electrical and electronic application equipment, and electronic components. Manufacturing is also carried out by Sharp group companies in different markets.

Are Sharp appliances made in Japan?
Sharp is headquartered in Japan, but its official materials also document appliance production in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The available information therefore does not support treating all Sharp appliances as made in Japan—or assuming a particular unit was made there because it carries the Sharp name.
How to find where a particular Sharp appliance was made
- Check the product’s rating plate or packaging. Look for the model number and a country-of-origin marking. The marking on the specific unit is more useful than the company’s headquarters or a general list of factories.
- Ask Sharp support if the marking is missing or unclear. Provide the complete model number and the market where the appliance was sold, and ask for confirmation of that unit’s country of origin.
The reviewed company and facility information does not provide a complete, current origin lookup for every Sharp model. A factory’s listed product range shows what it makes, not necessarily where a specific model or individual unit was produced.
