ChatGPT Meetings is currently in beta in the ChatGPT desktop app for macOS for users on Pro and Business plans. Enterprise access is limited to an alpha test group, not generally available. Meetings is not the same feature as ChatGPT Record, whose eligible plans differ.
Who can use ChatGPT Meetings?
OpenAI lists Meetings in beta for all Pro plans and all Business plans. The availability applies to the Meetings plugin in the ChatGPT desktop app on macOS. See OpenAI’s Meetings documentation for current availability details.

Enterprise users do not have general access: OpenAI says it is testing Meetings with a limited group through an alpha program. Eligibility can also depend on workspace settings, particularly for Business accounts.
What Mac and app do you need?
You need the ChatGPT desktop app on a Mac. Install the Meetings plugin from Plugins, then open it from the sidebar and complete onboarding. OpenAI’s Meetings documentation does not specify a minimum macOS version or identify compatible Mac models, so there is no supported version or model list to rely on.

Support for iOS, Android, and Windows is described as coming soon; those platforms should not be treated as currently supported for Meetings.
What permissions and workspace settings are required?
- Microphone: Allows Meetings to capture you and nearby speakers.
- System audio: Allows it to capture sound from the Mac, including remote participants in a call.
- Business workspace: An administrator must enable both ChatGPT Space and the Meetings plugin.
If speakers are missing from the notes, check that both audio permissions are enabled and that the selected microphone is connected and working.

How to set up Meetings
- Open the ChatGPT desktop app on your Mac and sign in to an eligible account and workspace.
- Open Plugins, find and install Meetings, then launch it from the sidebar and finish onboarding.
- Allow microphone and system-audio access when prompted. If prompted permissions were denied earlier, check the Mac’s app permissions and enable both.
- If you use Business, ask your workspace administrator to confirm that ChatGPT Space and Meetings are enabled.
- Tell everyone in the meeting that notes will be taken and obtain their consent before starting.
- Optionally connect Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar if you want upcoming-meeting visibility and reminders. A calendar connection is not required to take notes manually.
How Meetings works and when it stops
Select Take notes to start. Meetings can use the transcript, your own notes, and authorized context from connected apps to create a personalized summary and suggested action items. You can review or edit proposed actions before launching them.

It may remind you to stop after a few minutes without detected audio. A session stops automatically when the Mac lid is closed, after an extended period without audio, or at the four-hour session limit described by OpenAI.

Privacy, consent, and delayed notes
Meetings streams Mac microphone and system audio to OpenAI for processing. When notes are ready, the audio is deleted from the Mac and OpenAI’s servers; during offline use or incomplete processing, it can remain temporarily on the Mac. Meeting pages are private by default. If you share a page, recipients can see the notes but not the transcript.
The in-app reminder does not notify other participants or obtain consent for you. Tell participants yourself before starting, and check the rules that apply in your location.

Notes may take a few minutes to appear after upload and processing. If they are delayed, check your internet connection and allow processing to finish. Audio recorded while offline may wait temporarily on the Mac for upload.
Meetings is different from ChatGPT Record
Do not use Record’s wider plan list to infer Meetings access. OpenAI documents Record separately as available on macOS for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces; Enterprise and Edu have it disabled by default unless a workspace owner enables it. Meetings, by contrast, is in beta for Pro and Business, with only limited Enterprise alpha access.

OpenAI says a Record session can last up to four hours (240 minutes). Meetings has its own separately described four-hour automatic stop. Record guidance about using a headset to improve transcript quality is not a stated Meetings hardware requirement.
