No VPN can guarantee Disney+ access: the service identifies VPN or IP anonymizer use as one possible cause of Error 73, and access can vary by server, location, and time. In reviewer testing, NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Proton VPN, Private Internet Access, and CyberGhost are among the options assessed, but independent rankings and results differ. Choose based on the test evidence, devices you use, and current subscription terms—not a promise that a VPN will bypass a block.
Which VPN works with Disney Plus in 2026?
There is no universal winner in the available 2026 comparisons. Top10VPN’s guide, updated August 13, 2026, says it tested 59 VPNs and ranks its options by different strengths; Security.org reports a different order and mixed connection results. Neither publisher’s findings establish how a provider will perform for every subscriber, server, region, or device.

What the comparison evidence says about each option
NordVPN
Security.org ranks NordVPN first in its 2026 comparison and reports 7 of 10 test connections. Top10VPN identifies it as the fastest option in its own guide. Those are separate publisher assessments; the cited comparisons do not provide a common speed figure or a guarantee of Disney+ access.
ExpressVPN
Top10VPN names ExpressVPN its easiest-to-use option, while Security.org reports 6 of 10 test connections. ExpressVPN’s own guidance offers troubleshooting suggestions, but provider-authored advice is not a Disney+ policy or independent proof of access.

Security.org ranks Proton VPN third and reports 6 of 10 test connections. The cited comparison does not establish a universal success rate or a specific result for every server or device.

Security.org ranks CyberGhost sixth and reports 5 of 10 test connections. Its position reflects that comparison; the available evidence does not support a blanket claim about performance outside those tests.

Disney+ Help Center guidance dated February 17, 2026, says Error 73 can indicate an attempt to watch from a country or region where Disney+ is unavailable. VPN or IP anonymizer use is another possible cause. The error message may say, “This content isn’t available to watch in your current location.”

Disney’s official instruction is: “If you are attempting to use a VPN or similar method to access Disney+, disable it and restart the app.” Its guidance also recommends checking that the service is available in your region, testing the internet connection, and restarting the device or app as applicable. A VPN’s ability to connect does not mean Disney+ will accept its IP address.

What to compare before subscribing
- Test scope: Check which publisher tested the service, when the guide was updated, and whether the finding applies to selected connections or a broader network. The figures above are publisher-specific results.
- Devices and TV setup: Top10VPN lists Fire TV Stick, Android TV, and Apple TV compatibility among options it covers. An Amazon Fire TV Stick is not established as a requirement, and no particular model is necessary based on the available evidence. Some setups may use a router or Smart DNS, but the cited material does not establish one required configuration.
- Speed and ease of use: Treat “fastest” and “easiest” as Top10VPN’s review judgments, not universal measurements. The cited evidence provides no comparable numeric speed results across the providers.
- Full subscription cost: Check the price for your billing period, renewal rate, refund conditions, and trial eligibility on the provider’s current checkout page. Promotional rates and terms change, and the comparison evidence does not establish durable prices.
- Your reason for using a VPN: Changing apparent region for streaming and protecting traffic on public Wi-Fi are different goals. Assess privacy and security claims separately from whether a streaming service accepts a connection.
What to try if Disney+ blocks the connection
- Follow Disney’s official steps first: Turn off the VPN or anonymizer, then restart Disney+. Confirm that Disney+ is available in your location and check the internet connection.
- If you still choose to use a VPN: ExpressVPN’s provider-authored troubleshooting guidance suggests trying another server location, updating the apps, clearing the Disney+ app cache, and contacting its support. These are provider suggestions, not official Disney+ instructions, and may not resolve a block.
- Reassess the setup: If access continues to fail, check device compatibility and the provider’s current support guidance. Avoid assuming that buying a different streaming device will resolve an IP or location-based block.
