Corning names seven phones with Gorilla Glass 6: the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, Sony Xperia 1 II, ASUS ROG Phone II, ZenFone 6 and ASUS 6Z. Coverage differs by model: Corning lists the Samsung phones and Xperia 1 II with GG6 on both front and back, while the three ASUS models have GG6 on the front and Gorilla Glass 3 on the back.

Corning says Gorilla Glass 6 survived drops from up to 1.6 meters onto hard, rough surfaces in its laboratory tests. It also reports up to 2x better scratch performance than competitive aluminosilicate glass. These are manufacturer claims under specified comparisons, not a promise that a phone will survive a fall or stay scratch-free. The scratch comparison is not a ranking against every cover glass. In its July 18, 2018 launch release, Corning said GG6 survived an average of 15 drops from 1 meter onto rough surfaces in laboratory tests and was up to two times better than Gorilla Glass 5. These are different descriptions of test results; neither predicts the outcome for a particular handset, drop angle, surface or case. Corning’s release also reported a Toluna consumer study finding an average of seven phone drops per person per year worldwide, with more than half at 1 meter or below. How to choose among these older models
The Corning listings establish glass generation and coverage, not whether a phone is currently available, in what condition, or at what price. They also do not establish carrier compatibility. Before purchasing, verify the exact handset variant against the seller’s description and your carrier’s requirements. If rear-glass coverage matters, distinguish the ASUS models’ Gorilla Glass 3 backs from the front-and-back GG6 coverage listed for the Samsung and Sony models.

Cases and screen protectors are optional ways to add protection, but fit depends on the exact phone variant. Confirm compatibility with the model you intend to buy; Gorilla Glass does not eliminate breakage or scratching risk.
