For the main Luffy–Kaido battle, watch episodes 1015–1035, then resume with 1051–1070. Continue through episode 1076 for the fight’s concluding stretch. If you mean Luffy’s first encounter with Kaido in Wano, watch episodes 914–915 instead. These are watch-guide ranges rather than uninterrupted duel footage: the episodes also advance other Wano storylines.
Quick answer: choose the encounter you mean
| What you want to watch | Episodes | What the range represents |
|---|---|---|
| Luffy’s first clash with Kaido in Wano | 914–915 | The early encounter, separate from the later Onigashima raid. |
| The rooftop battle begins | 1015 | Luffy and the allied pirates reach the rooftop to face Kaido and Big Mom. |
| Main rooftop battle block | 1015–1035 | The opening and first major section of the raid-era fight. |
| Rooftop battle continuation | 1051–1070 | The later run of episodes carrying the fight toward its decisive phase. |
| Concluding stretch | 1069–1076 | The late-stage sequence, ending with episode 1076. |
The ranges overlap because episode 1069 is inside 1051–1070 and also begins the compact final-stretch recommendation. You do not need to replay it; choose either the full continuation or the shorter end-focused route.

Why there are two different Kaido encounters
“The Kaido fight” can refer to two moments separated by a large portion of the episode list. The first is Luffy’s early Wano clash in episodes 914–915. It is an encounter in the story’s earlier Wano phase, not the rooftop confrontation that most viewers mean when they ask for the Luffy-versus-Kaido fight.

The later battle belongs to the Onigashima raid. Its recognizable starting point is episode 1015, when Luffy and the allied pirates reach the rooftop where Kaido and Big Mom are waiting. If you start at 914 because you want every Luffy–Kaido meeting, you will see the earlier clash but will still need to jump forward to 1015 for the main raid battle.

Keeping the two encounters separate prevents the most common watch-order mistake: treating 914–915 as the complete fight, or beginning at 1015 while expecting it to recap every detail of the earlier confrontation. They are distinct story beats with different purposes.
Episodes 914–915: the first clash in Wano
Start here if you want the earliest Luffy–Kaido encounter
Watch episodes 914 and 915 when your goal is to see the first clash rather than the full raid. This two-episode block is the concise route for that specific question. It should be added before the raid episodes if you want a chronological Luffy–Kaido watch order.
What this block does not cover
Episodes 914–915 are not a substitute for the rooftop battle. They do not take you to the later allied-pirate assault on Onigashima, the rooftop sequence, or the ending covered by episode 1076. Think of them as a short prelude to the later fight, not as the beginning of the 1015–1076 viewing run.
Episode 1015: where the rooftop battle starts
Episode 1015 is the clearest starting point for viewers asking, “Which episodes have Luffy fighting Kaido?” Its episode synopsis places Luffy and the allied pirates on the rooftop against Kaido and Big Mom. In practical terms, this is the point at which the raid’s headline confrontation is established.
Starting at 1015 also avoids a misleadingly early jump. Earlier Wano episodes contain preparation and other story developments, but the rooftop fight itself is not the focus until the allied group reaches Kaido and Big Mom on the roof. If you want the battle rather than the complete Wano arc, 1015 is the useful entry point.

Episodes 1015–1035: the opening rooftop viewing block
What you get from the 21-episode run
Episodes 1015 through 1035 inclusive make up 21 episodes. Use this block to follow the rooftop battle from its named starting point through its first substantial section. The range is long enough to show progression rather than only a single arrival or confrontation episode.
It is important to interpret “fight episodes” correctly. This is a watch-guide block, not a promise that every minute shows Luffy trading blows with Kaido. One Piece continues to interleave the rooftop action with other Wano plotlines, character viewpoints and raid developments. Watching the entire block preserves the episode-to-episode progression; skipping around based only on scene descriptions can make the battle’s sequence harder to follow.

Who should choose this block?
- First-time viewers of the raid: Start at 1015 and watch through 1035 so the opening phase has room to develop.
- Viewers returning for the rooftop sequence: Use 1015 as the clean restart point instead of searching for isolated clips.
- Viewers who already watched the first clash: Add 1015–1035 after 914–915 to move from the early Wano encounter into the raid.
The gap between 1035 and 1051
The recommended guide resumes at episode 1051 rather than presenting 1015–1076 as one uninterrupted block. That separation reflects how the episode guide identifies the later continuation. Episodes between these ranges belong to the broader Wano narrative, so a viewer who wants the complete surrounding story can continue in normal order instead of jumping.
If your only objective is the main Luffy–Kaido progression, the practical roadmap is 1015–1035, then 1051–1070. If you are watching every Wano episode, do not skip the intervening numbers simply because the compact fight guide separates them; they may contain context outside the narrow duel-focused route.
Episodes 1051–1070: the later continuation
Resume at 1051
Episode 1051 is the recommended resumption point after the opening rooftop block. Watch through episode 1070 for a 20-episode continuation run. Together with 1015–1035, this gives you the principal guide range for the raid-era Luffy–Kaido battle.

The two blocks serve different viewing needs: 1015–1035 establishes and develops the rooftop confrontation, while 1051–1070 carries the later progression toward the decisive endgame. Treat them as connected sections with a substantial stretch of wider Wano storytelling between them, not as two unrelated fights.
Why episode 1069 matters
Episode 1069 is titled “There is Only One Winner – Luffy vs. Kaido.” That wording makes it an especially useful marker when you are navigating a streaming service or episode list. The official One Piece listing shows July 16, 2023 as the broadcast date for episode 1069.
Because 1069 sits inside the 1051–1070 continuation, you do not need a separate detour if you are already watching that full range. It becomes a convenient checkpoint for viewers who want to confirm that they have reached the explicitly labeled Luffy-versus-Kaido phase.
Episodes 1069–1076: the compact final stretch
Use this route for the ending-focused watch
If you have already seen the earlier rooftop material and want only the concluding run, continue from episode 1069 through episode 1076. This eight-episode span includes the episode explicitly titled “There is Only One Winner – Luffy vs. Kaido” and ends at the episode identified as the conclusion of the fight’s final stretch.
There is intentional overlap with the longer 1051–1070 recommendation. Episodes 1069 and 1070 are already part of that continuation, so the additional episodes after 1070 are 1071–1076. A viewer who watched 1051–1070 should simply continue with 1071, not restart at 1069.

Episode 1076 is the endpoint
Episode 1076 is titled “The World That Luffy Wants!” Its listing describes the concluding punch, making it the endpoint for this watch guide. Continue through 1076 when your question is “What episode does Luffy beat Kaido?” or when you want the complete concluding sequence rather than stopping at the explicitly labeled 1069 episode.
Stopping at 1069 can leave the late sequence unfinished. Stopping at 1070 is also short of the guide’s stated endpoint. Episode 1076 is the finish line for the compact final-stretch route.
Choose a watch plan
| Plan | Episodes to watch | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| First clash only | 914–915 | Viewers interested in the earliest Wano encounter. | Does not include the rooftop raid. |
| Main rooftop route | 1015–1035, then 1051–1070 | Viewers who want the principal Luffy–Kaido battle progression. | Includes other Wano story material within the ranges and leaves a wider-story gap between blocks. |
| Chronological fight route | 914–915, then 1015–1035, then 1051–1070 | Viewers who want both the first clash and the later raid battle. | Longer viewing time and a large jump between the early clash and rooftop start. |
| Late-stage route | 1069–1076 | Viewers who have already watched the rooftop setup and want the ending. | Not suitable if you need the battle’s opening or development. |
| Complete final continuation | 1051–1076 | Viewers who want the later block through the endpoint without stopping at 1070. | Overlaps the compact marker at 1069 and still includes broader Wano material. |
How to find the episodes on a streaming service
- Confirm the series and season. Search for One Piece, then open the Wano-era episode list rather than relying on a generic “Kaido fight” search result.
- Enter the episode number manually. For the rooftop opening, locate episode 1015. For the later continuation, locate episode 1051. For the compact ending, locate episode 1069 and continue through 1076.
- Check the episode title. Episode 1069 should display “There is Only One Winner – Luffy vs. Kaido,” and episode 1076 should display “The World That Luffy Wants!” Titles are a useful safeguard against season-numbering differences.
- Decide whether to include the first clash. Add 914–915 only if you want the earlier Wano encounter; otherwise begin at 1015 for the rooftop battle.
- Continue in numerical order within your chosen block. Do not assume every episode is a continuous duel. The guide ranges include other Wano storylines, so watch the full block when you want coherent progression rather than isolated action scenes.
- Verify the endpoint. If your plan is the final stretch, stop after episode 1076. If you are following the longer continuation, do not end at 1070 when the guide’s concluding endpoint is 1076.
What to expect from the pacing
A range labeled for the Kaido fight does not mean every episode is wall-to-wall Luffy-versus-Kaido action. One Piece uses these episodes to move several Wano plotlines at once. You will therefore see the battle advance in stages, with attention shifting away from the rooftop before returning to it.
This pacing is why a complete block is more reliable than a hand-picked list of only the most visibly combat-focused installments. Watching 1015–1035 and 1051–1070 preserves the transitions that connect the major beats. The late-stage 1069–1076 route is shorter, but it assumes you already understand what led to that point.

Best Value
- 914–915 is 2 episodes.
- 1015–1035 is 21 episodes.
- 1051–1070 is 20 episodes.
- 1015–1035 plus 1051–1070 totals 41 episode slots.
- 1069–1076 is 8 episodes, but 1069 and 1070 are already included in the 1051–1070 block.
- After completing 1051–1070, only episodes 1071–1076 remain to reach the endpoint.
Actual clock time depends on the version of each episode and how often you pause. The episode counts are the dependable planning figures; no single runtime should be assumed across every licensed service or edition.
Common watch-order mistakes
Starting at 914 and stopping there
Episodes 914–915 cover the first clash, not the later rooftop battle. If your goal is the raid confrontation, continue to episode 1015 after completing the early encounter.
Starting at 1015 and expecting only a duel
Episode 1015 is the rooftop starting point, but the recommended ranges also contain other Wano storylines. The battle is a thread running through the episodes, not the sole subject of every scene.
Stopping at episode 1069
The title “There is Only One Winner – Luffy vs. Kaido” makes 1069 easy to identify, but it is not the endpoint used by this guide. Continue through 1076 for the concluding punch and the titled endpoint “The World That Luffy Wants!”
Restarting at 1069 after watching 1051–1070
Episode 1069 is already included in the longer continuation. If you have watched through 1070, resume at 1071 and continue to 1076.
Assuming episode numbers match every regional season label
Streaming catalogs can organize long-running anime by season, cour or a single complete list. Use the numeric episode number and the displayed title together. Availability and catalog organization vary by territory and can change, so check the licensed service available in your region.
A simple decision tree
- Do you mean Luffy’s first Wano encounter with Kaido? Watch 914–915.
- Do you mean the Onigashima rooftop fight? Start at 1015.
- Do you want the main raid progression? Watch 1015–1035, then 1051–1070.
- Do you already know the setup and want the ending? Watch 1069–1076.
- Have you completed 1051–1070? Continue with 1071–1076 to reach the endpoint.
Bottom line for each type of viewer
For the shortest answer to “Which episodes cover the Kaido fight?”, use 1015–1035 and 1051–1070. Add 1071–1076 if you want the conclusion, making 1076 the final episode in the guide. Add 914–915 only when you also want the separate first clash in Wano. That distinction gives you a precise route without mistaking an early encounter, a rooftop starting point and the final episode for the same segment.
