What does Makita 18V X2 mean?
“18V X2” describes a tool powered by a pair of Makita 18V LXT batteries, for a 36V system. The five product pages below list a two-battery 18V LXT configuration. Makita’s XSR01PT page says the setup delivers “more power, speed and run time without the hassles of a cord”; that is Makita product marketing, not an independent performance finding.

1. XSR01 rear-handle circular saw: for cutting lumber
The XSR01PT is a 7-1/4-inch brushless rear-handle circular saw. Makita lists a 5,100 RPM no-load speed, a maximum cut depth of 2-9/16 inches at 90 degrees, and a weight of 12.4 lb with battery. 3. XAD04 right-angle drill: for large holes in framing
The XAD04PT is a brushless right-angle drill with a 7/16-inch hex chuck and two speed ranges: 0–350 and 0–1,400 RPM. Makita lists drilling capacity up to 6-1/4 inches with a hole saw and 4-5/8 inches with a self-feed bit. Its listed weight is 13.1 lb with battery. 4. XRJ06 reciprocating saw: for demolition and reciprocating cuts
The XRJ06PT is a brushless reciprocating saw with a 1-1/4-inch stroke and a published maximum of 3,000 strokes per minute. How to choose among these tools
Start with the job, then compare the relevant specification rather than treating figures from different tool types as a performance ranking.
- Cutting lumber: Check the circular saw’s cut depth and weight with battery.
- Clearing leaves or debris: Compare the blower’s published air volume and air velocity against the kind of cleanup you do.
- Drilling large holes: Match the right-angle drill’s listed capacity to the bit type you plan to use, and consider its weight with battery.
- Demolition or reciprocating cuts: Review the saw’s stroke, strokes per minute and stated wood-cutting capacity, including the blade length associated with that capacity.
- Pruning overhead or at a distance: Consider the pole saw’s listed overall length alongside its chain specifications.
Check the exact kit before buying
The model suffix matters. The PT and PTB product pages cited here describe kits with two 5.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger; Makita also lists corresponding Z-designation tool-only models. Confirm the contents of the exact SKU being considered rather than assuming every listing includes batteries and a charger. Specifications and kit contents here come from Makita USA’s product pages, not comparative testing.
