For the longest manufacturer-rated endurance, start with the Garmin Enduro 4; for solar-assisted outdoor use, consider the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar; and for a rugged AMOLED screen or a smaller case, compare the Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro. Their published battery figures describe different modes and conditions, so they are not a like-for-like ranking.
How to compare smartwatch battery life
Check the runtime for the way you actually use a watch. Routine smartwatch mode, GPS activity recording, multi-band GPS and power-saving modes can produce very different estimates. Always-on display use, notifications, heart-rate tracking and connected sensors also affect real-world endurance.

- For everyday wear: Compare smartwatch-mode estimates and note whether they assume solar exposure.
- For hikes, races or long workouts: Look for GPS activity runtime and the accuracy mode behind the figure.
- For a brighter display: Check the screen type and whether the estimate accounts for always-on use.
The figures below come from manufacturers, not comparative hands-on testing. They are useful for narrowing choices, but they do not guarantee the same runtime for every wearer.
Three long-battery smartwatches to consider
| Model | Published battery estimate | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Garmin Enduro 4 | Up to 90 days in smartwatch mode; up to 320 hours in activity mode, according to Garmin. Solar and power-mode conditions apply. Garmin announcement, October 6, 2026 | Endurance activities and long outdoor trips |
| Garmin Instinct 3 Solar | Up to 28 days (45 mm) or 40 days (50 mm) in smartwatch mode. Garmin also gives separate GPS and solar-enhanced estimates. Garmin owner’s manual | Outdoor use, solar charging and a choice of case sizes |
| Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro | Up to 25 days typical use (48 mm) or 17 days (44 mm); heavy-use estimates are 10 and 8 days, respectively. Amazfit product specifications | A rugged AMOLED option, including a smaller case |
Garmin Enduro 4: endurance-first choice
Garmin announced the Enduro 4 on October 6, 2026, describing it as its longest-lasting GPS smartwatch. The company specifies a 1.4-inch MIP display and estimates up to 90 days in smartwatch mode or up to 320 hours in activity mode. These are maximum manufacturer estimates, not a promise of that runtime in every configuration.

Garmin says the activity estimate can reach 320 hours in Max Battery mode with solar charging. The watch also includes a Max Accuracy mode, so the selected power and GPS settings matter when deciding how long a recording will last. Consider this model if long activity recording matters more than choosing a brighter AMOLED screen.
Garmin Instinct 3 Solar: solar and size options
Garmin’s manual rates the 45 mm Solar model for up to 28 days of typical smartwatch use and the 50 mm model for up to 40 days. GPS-only estimates are up to 40 hours for the 45 mm and 60 hours for the 50 mm; multi-band GPS estimates are lower than GPS-only figures.

Garmin’s “unlimited with solar” wording is conditional, not a claim that the watch never needs charging under ordinary indoor use. Its manual specifies solar-exposure assumptions for solar-enhanced estimates and warns that activity tracking, wrist-based heart rate, notifications, GPS, and internal or connected sensors affect actual battery life. Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro: rugged AMOLED in two sizes
Amazfit lists up to 25 days of typical-use battery life for the 48 mm T-Rex 3 Pro and up to 17 days for the 44 mm version. Under the manufacturer’s heavy-use estimates, those figures fall to 10 and 8 days. The product page also provides multiple GPS-mode estimates, so use those rather than the typical-use number if frequent route recording is central to your routine.

- Choose Enduro 4 if your priority is extended GPS activity recording and you are comfortable with a MIP display and Garmin’s power-mode trade-offs.
- Choose Instinct 3 Solar if outdoor solar exposure and a long-running smartwatch mode are priorities; select 45 mm or 50 mm based on fit as well as runtime.
- Choose T-Rex 3 Pro if you want a rugged AMOLED watch, with the choice between a larger case and a smaller one that has lower battery estimates.
Before deciding, check compatibility with your phone and the smartwatch and fitness features you need. A long battery estimate is useful only if the watch’s display, GPS options, size and daily functions suit you.

What these battery figures do—and do not—tell you
Manufacturer estimates help compare models when the mode and conditions are stated, but the headline numbers alone can mislead: 90 days in smartwatch mode and 320 hours in activity mode describe different uses. Solar-enhanced estimates depend on exposure, and GPS accuracy settings can change activity runtime.
