There isn’t one universal “headphones” page. Use Bluetooth or Connected devices to pair or remove headphones, Sound or Output to choose where audio plays, Accessibility for hearing and balance controls, and a headphone maker’s app for supported model-specific features.
Choose the right settings menu

Hearing adjustments and balance
For supported Apple and Beats headphones, pair the headphones, then open Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual > Headphone Accommodations. This feature can adjust selected frequencies and amplify soft sounds. Its Phone and Media switches control whether the adjustments apply to calls, media, or both. Some controls require supported headphone models. Apple’s Headphone Accommodations guide describes the feature and compatibility.

Find headphone settings in Windows
Connect or manage headphones
Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices to connect, remove, or manage Bluetooth headphones. Microsoft’s Bluetooth pairing instructions cover Windows 10 and Windows 11; menu names and layouts can vary.

Select the audio output
To route sound to your headphones, open Settings > System > Sound and select them under Output. Some advanced sound properties may not appear until the headphones are connected. See Microsoft’s Windows sound troubleshooting guidance.
Find headphone settings on Android and Pixel
Look up general sound and output controls
Android settings vary by manufacturer. If a path below does not match your phone, search Settings for “Bluetooth,” “Sound,” or the name of the feature. On Pixel, use the volume panel’s media controls to check or change the active output; broader options are under Settings > Sound & vibration. Google notes that steps can vary by device in its Pixel sound settings guide.

Use Sound Amplifier for accessibility
On Pixel 3 and later, and selected other Android devices, open Settings > Accessibility > Sound Amplifier. Google documents support for wired and Bluetooth headphones, but cautions that some Bluetooth headphones may produce delayed or lower-quality audio. Check Google’s Sound Amplifier guide for device and setup details.

For compatible headphones, open Settings > Connected devices, then tap the settings button beside the headphone name. Audio switch and Multipoint depend on the headphone’s capabilities and Android or Google account requirements; they are connection features, not general sound-quality controls. Check the headphone maker’s app for model-specific controls
A companion app may offer settings beyond the operating system’s Bluetooth and audio menus. For example, Microsoft documents equalizer controls for Surface Headphones in the Surface app. The available controls and exact path depend on the headphone generation and whether the app is running on Windows, iOS, or Android. If you can’t find the setting
- Search Settings for the specific feature name, such as “balance,” “Sound Amplifier,” or “Bluetooth.”
- Connect the headphones first; some output and advanced options appear only when a device is connected.
- Check whether the feature requires a supported headphone model or a companion app.
- On Android, consult your phone maker’s instructions if the labels differ; Pixel paths are not universal Android paths.
