For the Pixel 10 generation, the biggest features missing from Google’s A-series phone—the Pixel 10a—are a dedicated telephoto camera, Pro camera controls and high-resolution capture, the Pro’s higher-spec display, and the memory and processor upgrades found in the mainline models. It is not a blanket list for every A-series generation: the comparison here is specifically between Pixel 10a, Pixel 10, and Pixel 10 Pro.
What is missing from the Pixel 10a?
Google’s comparison shows a clear split in hardware and camera options, but not an across-the-board loss of software features. Pixel 10 sits between the 10a and 10 Pro: it adds a telephoto camera and Tensor G5, while the Pro adds more camera capabilities, memory, storage choices, and a higher-spec display.

These are Google’s listed specifications and charging conditions, not independent side-by-side tests. The comparison does not establish relative battery life, real-world speed, photo quality, or durability. Google’s Pixel comparison provides the model specifications; its page title references the Pixel 11 lineup even though the configured columns shown for this comparison are Pixel 10 models.
Why the telephoto camera matters
The Pixel 10a’s listed rear cameras are a wide and an ultrawide, with no dedicated telephoto. Pixel 10 adds a 10.8 MP 5x telephoto, and Pixel 10 Pro has a 48 MP 5x telephoto. That distinction matters most when photographing distant subjects: a dedicated telephoto lens provides an optical camera view designed for that reach, while zoom beyond a camera’s optical range relies more on cropping and computational processing.

Google lists maximum zoom of up to 8x for the 10a, 20x for Pixel 10, and 100x for Pixel 10 Pro. Those figures describe Google’s stated zoom limits, not a guarantee that detail or image quality will be equivalent at every zoom level. A missing telephoto does not, by itself, mean the 10a’s camera is poor; it means the model lacks that dedicated camera hardware and has a shorter listed zoom range.
Which camera controls and capture options are Pro-only?
Google’s comparison lists Pro camera controls and High-Res capture up to 50 MP for Pixel 10 Pro. It does not list either feature for Pixel 10a or Pixel 10. If you want manual-style control or the option to capture at the listed high resolution, the Pro is the model in this comparison that includes those capabilities.

The table also lists Macro Focus, Night Sight, Astrophotography, Add Me, and Camera Coach across all three models. Those shared entries mean the 10a retains a range of Google camera features; they do not imply that its camera hardware or capture controls match the Pro.
How does the display differ?
The Pixel 10a and Pixel 10 Pro are both listed with 6.3-inch displays, so the Pro’s upgrade is not simply a larger screen. Google lists the 10a’s pOLED panel at 1080 × 2424 pixels and 60–120 Hz. The Pro has a 1280 × 2856 LTPO OLED panel with a 1–120 Hz refresh range. Google lists peak brightness of up to 3000 nits for the 10a and up to 3300 nits for the Pro.

Those specifications establish a higher resolution and wider refresh-rate range for the Pro. They do not establish how noticeable the difference will be to an individual user or how the screens compare under independent testing.
What do the processor, RAM, and storage differences mean?
The 10a has Google Tensor G4 and 8 GB of RAM. Pixel 10 moves to Tensor G5 and 12 GB, while Pixel 10 Pro has Tensor G5 and 16 GB. The 10a is offered with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage; Pro configurations extend to 1 TB.

More RAM and additional storage options give the higher-tier models greater listed capacity, but Google’s specifications alone do not show how much faster a particular task will run or how much storage any individual needs. Pixel 10 is the middle option if Tensor G5 is important but the Pro’s higher listed RAM is not.

Charging
Google lists Qi-certified wireless charging for the 10a, versus Qi2 Pixelsnap wireless charging up to 15 W for Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro. For wired charging, Google states that the 10a can reach up to 50% in about 30 minutes with a 45 W USB-C PPS charger or higher. For Pixel 10 and 10 Pro, Google states up to 55% in about 30 minutes with a 30 W USB-C PPS charger or higher. The chargers are sold separately, and these are manufacturer-stated conditions rather than independent test results.
Software features listed across the models
Google’s comparison lists Gemini, Gemini Live, Circle to Search, Live Translate, and Call Assist on Pixel 10a, Pixel 10, and Pixel 10 Pro. It also lists Camera Coach, Add Me, Macro Focus, Night Sight, and Astrophotography across the three. These entries show that many advertised AI, calling, and camera features are not exclusive to the Pro in this model comparison.
Feature access can still depend on software version, language, market, and other eligibility conditions. The comparison does not establish universal availability in every country or on every software configuration.
Which Pixel should you choose?
- Choose Pixel 10a if the A-series model fits your priorities and you do not need a dedicated telephoto, the Pro camera controls, or the Pro’s display and memory specifications.
- Consider Pixel 10 if you want Tensor G5 and a dedicated telephoto camera without moving to the Pro’s listed 16 GB RAM tier and 48 MP telephoto.
- Choose Pixel 10 Pro if you prioritize the strongest listed camera hardware, Pro controls and High-Res capture, a higher-resolution LTPO display, or more RAM and storage headroom.
Google Store editorial copy puts the choice this way: “The best Pixel for you ultimately comes down to your priorities.” Google’s Pixel 10 series comparison is the reference for these model positions and listed specifications.
