Which Good Lock Settings Should You Change First on a Samsung Galaxy?

Start with the Good Lock module that fixes your biggest daily annoyance: QuickStar for clutter, Home Up for layout, One Hand Operation+ for reachability, and RegiStar for shortcuts.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Start with the Good Lock module that fixes your most frequent annoyance: use QuickStar for a crowded status bar or Quick panel, Home Up for a more useful launcher layout, and One Hand Operation+ to bring common actions within thumb reach. Add RegiStar when you want back-tap, side-key, or Settings shortcuts. Leave Theme Park, LockStar, and Keys Cafe for appearance and keyboard preferences unless those are the problems you notice every day.

Good Lock is modular, so you do not need to change everything. Samsung India Support describes it as “a suite of customization apps for Galaxy users.” The best first setting depends on your Galaxy model, country, and One UI version because Samsung changes module availability and controls across devices and software releases.

Quick answer: choose by the annoyance you want to remove

There is no official Samsung ranking of the “best” Good Lock settings, and the available documentation does not provide a head-to-head usability test. A practical order is to solve the problem you encounter most often, then make one or two changes at a time.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Your main problem Start with What it is for
Status-bar icons or a cluttered Quick panel QuickStar Hiding selected status-bar icons, changing Quick panel appearance and button-grid options, and controlling panel access where supported
Home-screen, app-screen, or folder organization Home Up Launcher layouts, popup-folder styles, recent-app windows, share-window editing, and Home-screen layout restoration
Reaching actions on a large phone One Hand Operation+ Edge gestures for actions such as Back, Home, Recent apps, Quick panel, or screenshots
Fast shortcuts or a disorganized Settings page RegiStar Supported back-tap and side-key actions plus Settings-home reordering and grouping
Colors, panels, icons, or lock-screen layout Theme Park or LockStar Interface themes, Quick settings and volume-panel styling, icons, lock screen, and Always On Display elements
Samsung Keyboard feels cramped or awkward Keys Cafe Keyboard layout, size, style, and effects
A specific audio or camera behavior Sound Assistant or Camera Assistant Per-app audio and multi-sound controls, or additional behavior controls in Samsung Camera

Use this table as a starting point, not a promise that every option will appear on every Galaxy. Samsung states that supported models, regions, module lists, and features can differ and may change.

Before you change anything

Good Lock modules are separate downloads. Before following a setting guide, confirm what your phone actually supports.

  1. Open the Galaxy Store and search for Good Lock. If it is unavailable, your model or region may not support the suite.
  2. Open Good Lock and inspect the module list shown on your device. Install only the module related to the problem you want to solve.
  3. Note your Galaxy model and One UI version in Settings > About phone > Software information. Module screens can differ after an update.
  4. Change one setting, use the phone normally, and decide whether it helped before making another change.
  5. Keep a familiar gesture or navigation method available while you learn a new shortcut. If a change causes trouble, return to the module and disable it rather than changing several settings at once.

Samsung’s own guides caution that Good Lock support varies by model, region, and software version. Treat every control below as “available where supported,” especially on older phones and after a major One UI update.

1. Clean up the status bar and Quick panel with QuickStar

Choose QuickStar first when the top of the screen feels crowded or the Quick panel does not expose the controls you use most. Samsung documents QuickStar controls for hiding status-bar icons, changing the Quick panel theme and button grid, and separating panel access. The exact switches depend on the installed version.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What to change first

  • Hide only distracting status icons. Remove icons you recognize but rarely need to see. Keep indicators that warn about connectivity, battery, privacy, or an active service.
  • Adjust the Quick panel presentation. Try the available theme or layout controls if the panel is hard to scan.
  • Review panel access options. On versions that support separate access behavior, choose the arrangement that lets you reach notifications and controls with fewer swipes.

How to set it up

  1. Open Good Lock and select QuickStar.
  2. Open the status-bar or Quick-panel section displayed by your version.
  3. Change one icon, grid, theme, or access option.
  4. Pull down the panel and check both the compact and expanded views. Undo the change if an important indicator or control became difficult to reach.

QuickStar’s current listing includes One UI 8.5-specific panel features and notes a temporary limitation affecting a grid control. That is a useful reminder not to assume a control shown in an older tutorial is still present or behaves the same way on your phone.

2. Make the launcher more useful with Home Up

Home Up is the right second step when your home screen, app screen, or folders waste space or require too much swiping. Samsung lists layout controls, popup-folder styles, recent-app window customization, share-window editing, and restoration of the Home-screen layout.

Good first changes

  • Home and app-screen layout: test a grid or arrangement that puts the apps you use most within fewer swipes.
  • Folders: try a popup-folder style that shows the apps you need without forcing repeated full-screen transitions.
  • Recent apps: adjust the recent-app window only if its current presentation slows you down.
  • Share window: edit the visible sharing targets if the same destinations repeatedly appear below irrelevant ones.

Change the layout safely

  1. Open Good Lock and choose Home Up.
  2. Select the launcher area you want to change: Home screen, Apps screen, folders, recent apps, or sharing.
  3. Make one layout adjustment and return to the launcher.
  4. Use the phone for a day before making another change. If the arrangement is worse, restore the previous layout or use Home Up’s restoration option where your version provides it.

Do not assume every Home Up control is available on every launcher configuration. Keeping a restoration path matters because a dense grid or unfamiliar folder style can make a phone feel slower even when it fits more icons.

3. Put frequent actions under your thumb with One Hand Operation+

One Hand Operation+ is the strongest early choice for a large Galaxy, frequent one-handed use, or difficulty reaching the navigation area. It adds configurable gesture handles along the screen edges. Samsung lists actions such as Back, Home, and Recent apps; Samsung’s Japanese guidance also gives Quick panel and screenshot actions as examples.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A practical starting setup

  1. Open Good Lock and select One Hand Operation+.
  2. Enable the edge handle on the side you naturally use, or on both sides if you switch hands.
  3. Assign only a few actions you already use repeatedly. A sensible first set is Back, Home, and Recent apps.
  4. If your version offers them, consider a Quick panel or screenshot action for a specific recurring task.
  5. Adjust handle position, width, transparency, and gesture length until you can start a gesture without gripping the phone differently.
  6. Test short, diagonal, and long gestures. Keep the directions that feel distinct and disable any that trigger accidentally.

Map actions to habits rather than novelty. A gesture that saves one reach hundreds of times is more useful than a complicated set of commands you must remember. If a case or screen protector makes the edge difficult to touch, move the handle or reduce the number of active directions.

  • [Dont Hesite to Order] 24 hours customer services and professional technology team are standing by

4. Add shortcuts and reorganize Settings with RegiStar

RegiStar is a targeted choice rather than a universal first install. Use it when you want a supported back-tap or side-key action, or when the main Settings page hides the entries you open most often. Samsung guides describe examples such as assigning camera or capture actions to back taps and customizing a back-panel screenshot action.

Shortcut choices

  • Back tap: assign a task you can recognize immediately, such as opening the camera or capturing the screen, if your model supports that trigger.
  • Side key: use an available press or hold action when the default behavior does not match your routine.
  • Settings organization: reorder or group Settings-home entries so frequently used categories are easier to find.

Back-tap detection can depend on the phone’s hardware, case, and software. Start with a deliberate action and test it while the phone is locked and unlocked if the module allows both states. Keep an alternative route to the same function until the shortcut proves reliable.

5. Customize appearance and keyboard feel only when they matter to you

Theme and input modules can make a Galaxy feel more personal, but they rarely solve a navigation problem. Move them earlier only when appearance or typing is your daily friction point.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Theme Park

Theme Park can create interface themes and customize colors for elements such as the Quick settings window, volume panel, and icons. Change one visual family at a time so text contrast and touch targets remain clear. A color combination that looks attractive in the editor can reduce readability in bright light or dark mode.

LockStar

LockStar focuses on the lock screen and Always On Display. Use it to adjust supported elements when the clock, notifications, or shortcuts are poorly placed. Keep essential status information visible and check the result with both a notification present and no notification present.

Keys Cafe

Keys Cafe changes Samsung Keyboard layout, size, style, and effects. If keys feel too small, change size or layout before adding visual effects. Type a normal message after each adjustment; a keyboard that looks better but increases errors is not an improvement.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

6. Reserve Sound Assistant and Camera Assistant for specific complaints

Sound Assistant

Samsung Japan’s guide describes per-app audio settings and multi-sound features. Choose Sound Assistant when one app is consistently too loud or quiet, or when you need audio from more than one source. These are problem-specific controls, not settings every Galaxy owner needs to alter.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Camera Assistant

Camera Assistant adds configurable behavior to Samsung’s Camera app. Install it when you have a particular camera behavior you want to change, and verify that the module supports your phone and camera version before relying on a tutorial written for another Galaxy.

How to decide when two modules seem relevant

Use four tests instead of trying every option:

  • Problem solved: select the module whose documented purpose matches the annoyance, not the one with the longest feature list.
  • Frequency: prioritize an action you perform daily over a novelty you may use once.
  • Compatibility: verify the model, region, and One UI version in the module currently installed on your phone.
  • Reversibility: favor a change you can quickly disable while learning it, and keep a familiar route to the same function.

For example, a person bothered by both a crowded panel and hard-to-reach navigation should use QuickStar first if the clutter is constant, then One Hand Operation+ if thumb reach remains the bigger obstacle. Someone who mainly dislikes the keyboard should skip both and begin with Keys Cafe.

A sensible first-day sequence

  1. Identify one daily annoyance. Write down whether it concerns the panel, launcher, reachability, shortcuts, appearance, keyboard, audio, or camera.
  2. Install one matching module. Check its current description in Good Lock or the Galaxy Store instead of relying on a menu path from another One UI release.
  3. Make one small change. Avoid changing icon visibility, launcher layout, gestures, and themes in the same session.
  4. Test normal tasks. Open notifications, launch apps, type, take a screenshot, or use the camera—the actions affected by your change.
  5. Keep or revert. If the change saves effort without creating a new problem, continue. Otherwise disable it and try a smaller adjustment.
  6. Add a second module only after the first feels natural. This preserves a clear cause-and-effect trail if something later becomes confusing.

Common problems and recovery steps

The module or option is missing

Check your Galaxy model, region, and One UI version. Samsung’s supported Good Lock models and module lists differ by region and can change. Update Good Lock and the module if an update is offered, then recheck the controls. Do not treat a missing switch as a setup error.

A tutorial’s menu does not match your screen

Good Lock interfaces change with module releases. Follow the purpose of the feature, but use the labels displayed in your installed version. A guide written for One UI 8.5 may not describe an earlier release accurately, and an older guide may show controls removed or renamed in a newer one.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A gesture triggers accidentally

Reduce the number of active directions, move the handle, change the gesture length, or disable the side that your grip touches. Keep Back or the standard navigation method available while you adjust it.

The new layout feels worse

Return to Home Up and restore the previous Home-screen arrangement where supported. If you did not record the old grid or folder style, change one value at a time until the launcher is usable again.

A visual theme reduces readability

Undo the color or icon change in Theme Park and check text contrast in both light and dark conditions. Styling is optional; legibility and reliable controls come first.

Bottom line

For most Galaxy owners, the best order is QuickStar for panel clutter, Home Up for launcher organization, One Hand Operation+ for reachability, and RegiStar for shortcuts or Settings organization. Use Theme Park, LockStar, and Keys Cafe when style or keyboard feel is the real priority, and turn to Sound Assistant or Camera Assistant only for a specific audio or camera need. Because Good Lock is version- and device-dependent, confirm each control on your own Galaxy and make changes incrementally.
