If you mean controlling the TV’s menus or playing on a console connected by HDMI, the setup is different.
Which controllers work with Samsung Gaming Hub?
Samsung’s US support pages name the controller families and models below. Its lists vary by page and region, so use them as a starting point rather than a guarantee for every TV or controller revision. Samsung advises checking the compatibility guidance for your exact TV.

The Xbox Wireless Controller is a reasonable named option to check: Samsung Canada uses it as an example of a Bluetooth-compatible controller, and Samsung US lists the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One families. That does not make it the only compatible choice or guarantee that every revision and feature will work on every TV.

Check before buying
- Look up your TV’s model and software version in Samsung’s support information for your region.
- Check whether the specific controller model and revision is listed, and whether you plan to connect by Bluetooth or USB.
- Confirm that the service you intend to use is available for your TV and region.
- If you need a particular feature, such as force feedback or headset audio, verify it separately; controller compatibility alone does not promise it.
Does your TV support Gaming Hub?
Samsung describes Gaming Hub as available on 2022-and-newer Smart TVs; its US page also mentions select monitors and projectors. Samsung Canada’s 2026 support article specifies TV software version 1302.5 or higher and cautions that features vary by country and model. These are Samsung’s stated availability details, not a guarantee that every newer TV has every Gaming Hub service. Check your local model page and software information; see Samsung’s Gaming Hub overview and Samsung Canada’s Gaming Hub page.
How to connect a controller for Gaming Hub
- Open Gaming Hub on the TV and select the controller icon, or follow the on-screen pairing prompt.
- Put the controller into pairing mode. The method depends on the controller; consult its instructions if needed.
- Select the controller using the TV interface when it appears. Samsung says Gaming Hub supports both USB and Bluetooth controllers for gameplay and Hub navigation.
Samsung’s setup guidance is in its Gaming Hub support article. If the controller does not appear, confirm that it is in pairing mode, try a supported USB connection if available, and check Samsung’s compatibility information for your model and region.

How to pair a controller for Samsung TV menus
Pairing a gamepad so it can control TV functions is not the same as pairing it for Gaming Hub gameplay. Samsung’s US route is Settings > External Device Manager > Input Device Manager > Bluetooth Device List. Older TVs may instead use Settings > System > Expert Settings. Put the controller in pairing mode and select it from the TV’s list. Samsung gives these button combinations:

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- PS4 controller: hold PS and Share.
- PS5 controller: hold PS and Create.
- Xbox controller: hold Pair.
Menu labels can vary with TV software. Samsung says a Nintendo Switch controller cannot be used to control the TV’s functions. See Samsung’s instructions for controlling a TV with third-party remotes.

Using a controller with a console connected to the TV
If you have a PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch console, connect the console to the TV through an HDMI input and use the controller with the console. The gamepad does not need to be compatible with Gaming Hub for this arrangement. Samsung’s console connection guidance is at Samsung Germany’s guide to connecting a game console to a Smart TV. Older consoles without HDMI may require an adapter.
What compatibility does—and does not—guarantee
A controller that connects may not expose every control or accessory feature. Samsung says on-screen controls and force feedback vary by controller, Xbox controllers may need a firmware update, and Tizen TVs support XInput mode. It also says audio through the controller’s 3.5 mm port is not supported on the TV. Check Samsung’s Gaming Hub support notes for the applicable model and region.

Samsung US says up to four Bluetooth controllers can be connected simultaneously, or up to two when one Bluetooth sound device is in use. Treat those counts as Samsung’s device-context guidance, not a universal limit for every TV and software version. Details are on Samsung’s page about playing games on a TV with Gaming Hub.

Yes, if your TV supports Gaming Hub and a cloud gaming service available in your region. Samsung identifies a compatible TV, stable internet, a supported controller, and the relevant service subscription as requirements for cloud gaming. Samsung Canada recommends an internet connection of 20 Mbps or faster; that is Samsung’s recommendation, not a guarantee of performance. Gaming Hub itself is free to use, but hosted services may charge separately, and service availability and terms vary. See Samsung Canada’s Gaming Hub requirements.
