How AirDrop sharing works on a Galaxy
AirDrop is Apple’s feature; on Galaxy, file transfers to and from Apple devices use Samsung’s Quick Share. There is no separate AirDrop app to install on the Galaxy. Samsung’s instructions use Quick Share’s Share with Apple devices setting to enable the connection.

Samsung’s published compatibility guidance names the Galaxy S26 series: the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. Compatibility and rollout can depend on market, phone, carrier and software version, so a device-specific confirmation is important. Samsung’s Quick Share support instructions and its March 22, 2026 announcement describe the feature and requirements.
What you need before sharing
- A Galaxy S26, S26+ or S26 Ultra with the feature available in its market and software.
- Quick Share app version 13.8.51.27 or later and Google Play services version 26.11.xx or later, as specified by Samsung for Apple-device sharing.
- On the Apple device, AirDrop set to Everyone (10 minutes only) so it can be discovered.
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled on both devices, with the devices nearby.
Send files between Galaxy and Apple devices
Enable Apple-device sharing on Galaxy
- Open Settings → Connected devices → Quick Share.
- Turn on Share with Apple devices.
Send from Galaxy to an Apple device
- On the Apple device, open Settings → General → AirDrop and select Everyone (10 minutes only).
- On the Galaxy, open the photo, file or other content and tap the share icon.
- Choose Quick Share, then select the nearby Apple device when it appears.
Receive on Galaxy from an Apple device
Make the Galaxy visible in Quick Share or open its receiving screen, then send from the Apple device using AirDrop. Samsung’s Canada guidance also describes sending and receiving between the Galaxy S26 series and Apple devices: Quick Share | Apps & Services.

Which other Galaxy models are confirmed?
Samsung’s April 9, 2026 One UI 8.5 beta announcement mentions additional Galaxy models in the context of beta-program availability, but its footnote says AirDrop support was then available on the Galaxy S26 series. That beta coverage does not establish general-release compatibility for the Galaxy S24 or S25, Z Fold, Z Flip, A-series or other Galaxy phones. Check a current Samsung support page for the specific phone, or look for the Apple-device sharing option in its Quick Share settings rather than assuming support. Samsung’s beta-program announcement.
Fix it if the Apple device does not appear
- Confirm AirDrop is set to Everyone (10 minutes only) on the Apple device.
- Check that Share with Apple devices is enabled on Galaxy and that the Galaxy is visible if it is meant to receive.
- Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on and bring the devices closer together.
- Check the Quick Share and Google Play services versions against Samsung’s stated minimums, and install available software updates.
- Try again after checking the settings; Samsung notes that a Galaxy phone may temporarily disconnect from Wi-Fi while searching for or sharing with Apple devices.
Samsung cautions that feature availability and functions can vary by device, carrier and software version. Its rollout announcement said deployment would begin in Korea on March 23, 2026, then expand to additional regions including Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia and Taiwan; Samsung noted timing and availability could vary by market.
