For your first team, choose Helion if you prefer close-range burst attacks or Lunara if you want ranged combat and recovery. Then use your first hours in Nimbus Fields to catch Aniimos that fill a real gap—such as damage, healing, breaking, or traversal—instead of chasing a supposedly perfect lineup. The early-catch suggestions below come from unofficial fan guides, not an independently verified tier list.
Helion or Lunara: which starter fits you?
The beginner guides frame this choice mainly around how you want to control fights. They describe both starters as sharing an element, so neither choice alone gives you much elemental variety. You can add that coverage through later catches.

| Starter | Guide-reported style | Choose it if… |
|---|---|---|
| Helion | Close-range or melee combat focused on burst damage | You enjoy getting near opponents and dealing damage in bursts. |
| Lunara | Ranged attacks, broader-area damage, and recovery | You prefer distance, attacks that can cover a wider area, or recovery during longer encounters. |
Neither is established as objectively best. One fan guide describes Lunara as popular for raw damage, but the comparison guides present the choice as preference-dependent; no developer ranking or independent gameplay test establishes a universal winner. See the starter comparisons at Aniimo.cc and Aniimoverse.

Which early Aniimos can fill useful roles?
Look at what your current lineup cannot do, then consider catches that address that need. These are suggestions from an unofficial guide, not a guaranteed route or ranking.

| Aniimo | Guide-reported use | A reason to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Emberpup | Fire damage and sprinting | You want another attacking option or a sprint-related movement ability. |
| Celestis | Flying or climbing utility; listed as an early Nimbus Fields catch | You need help reaching terrain or ledges. |
| Skippy | Swimming utility and a possible path toward a healer | Your team needs sustain or you want water-traversal coverage. |
| Budclaw | Breaking and rock-puzzle utility | You lack Break coverage for obstacles or puzzles. |
Use the role descriptions as a starting point, and check an Aniimo’s abilities in the game before committing to a team slot. The Aniimo beginner guide lists these early options and their uses.
Build coverage, not a rigid “best team”
A useful early lineup answers different problems. Consider damage, healing or support, breaking, elemental variety, and field abilities such as climbing, flying, swimming, or sprinting. Five Aniimos that all solve the same combat problem may leave you short when an encounter or route calls for something else.
- Combat: Add damage options that suit your preferred range and control style.
- Sustain and support: Consider healing, recovery, or support if longer encounters expose a weakness.
- Obstacles: Look for Break when rocks or other obstacles block progress.
- Exploration: Field abilities can be useful beyond combat; choose them when they address places you want to reach.
- Elements: Widen your elemental options after choosing a starter, rather than expecting the starter decision to provide variety.
One unofficial guide reports nine types, a 1.6× damage multiplier for super-effective attacks, and 0.625× for resisted attacks. It also says same-element attacks are resisted except for Dark and reports no immunities. Treat those figures as that guide’s current-guide data, not as developer-verified balance documentation; check the in-game chart for the matchup information available in your version. What to do in your first hours
- Create your Pathfinder and complete the first capture.
- Choose Helion or Lunara according to whether you want close-range burst combat or ranged attacks and recovery.
- Learn Command and Twining, complete Institute initiation, and continue into Nimbus Fields.
- Follow the story objective as your main route. Take short detours for nearby catches or resources; if a path requires an ability you do not have, return later rather than forcing the route.
- Catch an Aniimo to fill a specific gap. Check the capture percentage before using an Aniipod, as the beginner guide advises.
The opening sequence and capture advice are described in the guides at Aniimo.cc and Aniimoverse.

Command
With Command, the Pathfinder stays on the field while you issue attack orders to a team Aniimo. This lets you direct a creature without taking direct control of it.
Twining
Twining puts you in direct control of an Aniimo, letting you use its combat kit and field abilities. Because those abilities can help with movement and puzzles as well as fighting, consider exploration utility when choosing which Aniimos to keep available.

Do not replace a trained Aniimo simply because a new one has appeared. Compare the newcomer’s role and abilities with what your current team already provides, and switch when the alternative offers a meaningful upgrade or fills a missing job. The early-team guide recommends deliberate replacements rather than treating every new catch as an automatic improvement: Best Early Team.
