These are role-based choices, not a confirmed unlock order. Bandai Namco’s game overview describes missions involving dogfights, air support for ground troops, and air-to-sea sorties, and recommends matching aircraft and special weapons to the operation. Its aircraft roster provides the role descriptions behind the examples above.

How to choose your first unlock
- Read the mission briefing. Identify the principal targets and any launch restrictions. A mission’s label alone does not tell you which weapon or aircraft will be useful.
- Match the aircraft role to the target mix. Favor a fighter for air-combat-heavy sorties, an attacker for ground support, or a multirole aircraft when you need flexibility. For a naval mission, selection also depends on the launch rules.
- Check the special weapon, not just the aircraft name. The official walkthrough advises choosing aircraft and special weapons around the objective, and using upgrade parts to tailor an aircraft. A suitable role is not enough if the available weapon does not address the mission’s targets.
- Spend MRP where it solves your next problem. The walkthrough says mission-earned MRP unlocks additional fighter jets. Clayton Ashley’s Tom’s Guide review, published October 3, 2026, reports that MRP also buys weapons and upgrades. Consider those competing uses before unlocking a plane you may not be able to deploy or use effectively.
Dogfights: start with air-combat capability
For sorties centered on enemy aircraft, look for a fighter or a multirole plane described as capable in air combat. Bandai Namco lists the F-22A as a fighter and highlights its maneuverability and air-combat superiority. The Su-35S is listed as multirole, with thrust-vectoring maneuverability and dogfighting capability alongside air-to-air and air-to-ground armaments.

Ground support: choose for the objectives, not the label
An attacker is a natural starting point when the mission asks you to support troops or destroy ground targets. The official roster describes the A-10C as a durable close-air-support attacker with air-to-ground weapons. The F-15E is described as an attacker and strike fighter, with baseline air-combat capability and more weaponry than a standard fighter.
Ground-focused aircraft may also be useful outside missions explicitly framed as ground support. PC Gamer’s launch review describes score-target annihilation missions and reports that air-to-ground-specialized aircraft remained viable for much of the campaign. That is the reviewer’s campaign assessment, not a guarantee for every sortie, difficulty, or target mix. Check the briefing before committing to a specialized loadout.

Naval strikes: confirm the launch restriction first
For a sea-target mission, choose an aircraft and special weapon that address the particular targets—but first make sure the aircraft can launch under that sortie’s rules. A Tom’s Guide reviewer reports that some mid-game missions restricted aircraft to carrier-capable planes. That is a practical warning from one review, not a complete list of affected missions.
The official roster identifies the Rafale M as a carrier aircraft and lists roles including air superiority, interdiction, reconnaissance, and air support. It is a relevant example to consider when carrier compatibility matters, not a universal naval-strike recommendation. Read each briefing rather than assuming your preferred land-based aircraft will always be selectable.

What is—and is not—known about unlock order
The official pages explain that missions earn MRP for aircraft unlocks and advise choosing aircraft, weapons, and upgrades to suit the mission. They do not publish a complete, reliable aircraft unlock-cost or unlock-order table. The reviewed sources also do not establish comparative MRP efficiency, mission success rates, or a universally optimal first aircraft.
Accordingly, the role examples above should guide what to look for, not be read as a ranked purchase list. If your next mission does not call for a new capability, retaining MRP for a weapon or upgrade may be more useful than buying a higher-tier plane simply because it appears more advanced.
