They are practical ideas rather than proven upgrades over store-bought products: the descriptions come from How-To Geek author Sydney Louw Butler’s first-person account, published September 16, 2026, not from a controlled comparison.

Keep your place in a book with the Bookshark Bookmark
The Bookshark is a small bookmark shaped like a shark fin. Its stopper gives the fin a playful effect when the book is closed, while its small size makes it an easy candidate for printing several at once. Butler says they use little material, and estimates that a modern printer can make one in a minute or two, or a plate full at once. That time is the author’s estimate, not a verified result for every printer or slicer setup.

Butler also mentions printing them in multicolor filament and preferring them to store-bought bookmarks. Those are personal preferences, not evidence that the design works better for every reader. Multiple colors may still be useful if you want to distinguish books or reading projects.
Stop charging cables from slipping away
The Strong Locking Cable Clip is intended to keep charging cables accessible when you unplug a device. Butler’s account describes 16 sizes, accommodating one to 16 cables, and four mounting options. Those details come from the article’s description and have not been independently checked against the model listing, so verify the available size and attachment variants before printing.

In Butler’s setup, double-sided tape held a clip to a trolley used for handheld gaming devices and a VR headset. That is an example, not a guarantee that tape will hold on another surface. Check that the surface is suitable for the adhesive and that the selected clip fits the cables you plan to route.
Hang headphones beneath a desk
An under-desk mount can keep headphones off the desktop. Butler contrasts this approach with suction-cup, magnetic, and over-the-edge mounts, which she says are easy to knock off. Her chosen design has a screw-hole variant, and she reports attaching it with a short wood screw and screwdriver.

That setup depends on the desk and the chosen mounting point. Before using a screw-mounted version, make sure the desk material and thickness are appropriate for the fastener and that the location will not interfere with anything beneath or inside the desk. Butler’s account does not establish a load rating or universal installation method.

Use print-in-place bag clips with realistic expectations
These BAG CLIPS have a tensioned clip built into the print, so there is no separate piece to assemble. Butler reports that repeated opening eventually breaks them. She considers a quick, inexpensive reprint an acceptable tradeoff for bags opened less often, such as flour.

The account does not establish that the clips are airtight or made from food-contact-safe material. Treat them as a simple way to hold a bag closed, not as a verified food-storage seal.
Choose by attachment, handling, and replacement effort
- For books: Choose the bookmark if a small, uncomplicated place marker is what you need; color variants can help distinguish books.
- For cables: Prioritize a size that fits your cable count and an attachment method suited to the mounting surface. Check the model listing for current options.
- For headphones: Decide whether your desk can accommodate a screw-mounted hook and whether that is preferable to a mount that attaches to an edge or another surface.
- For bags: Consider how often you will flex the clip. The reported breakage with repeated opening makes it a better fit when an occasional replacement is acceptable.
Material advice should not be transferred from one design to another. A separate MakerWorld desk cable-holder listing recommends PLA Basic, PLA+, or PETG for its tubes and cautions against matte and silk PLA for that design’s latch because of strength concerns. That guidance applies to that separate model, not automatically to these four prints. If you already own a compatible printer, filament—including multicolor filament for a color variant—is an optional consumable; check each model’s own requirements and your printer’s compatibility.

What the four examples do—and do not—show
All four designs address small organization problems, but the evidence is an individual author’s experience, not a controlled test of durability, performance, savings, or superiority to store-bought alternatives. Butler’s account is useful for identifying the intended jobs and practical tradeoffs; it does not establish that every design will suit every setup.
