“Where’s the Backend?”—What We Can Verify About This DEV Post

A DEV Community listing identifies the post and its serverless/Supabase framing, but the article text is unavailable, so its backend claims cannot be verified.

The DEV Community listing confirms a post titled “Our CTO asked ‘where’s the backend?’ and the answer was ‘there is none’ 😭🙏,” attributed to Harun – solo dev and tagged for build-in-public, web development, serverless, and Supabase. It does not reveal the post’s technical explanation, so the headline alone cannot establish that the application had no backend.

What the listing establishes

The DEV Community search listing gives the post’s title, author attribution, topical tags, and a displayed publication date of September 24. The year is not shown in that listing. It links to the post, but the page could not be retrieved; a search of the author’s DEV profile showed the same title without the article text.

The tags indicate the author framed the post around web development, serverless, and Supabase. They do not establish that Supabase was used in the project, what services or code were involved, or how the system was deployed.

What “there is none” does—and does not—tell us

“There is none” is the answer in the headline, not a verified architectural description. Without the article body, it is not possible to tell whether the phrase means no separately managed server, no custom backend code, or something else. Nor can the headline establish where data handling, authentication, or application logic runs.

For that reason, the available listing is not enough to explain the implementation or assess its trade-offs. A reliable account of the architecture would require the post’s text or other direct technical documentation.

What remains unverified

  • The specific design and components behind the project.
  • Whether any backend services were used and, if so, how they were configured.
  • What the author meant by “there is none,” and whether the headline is literal or rhetorical.
  • Any performance, security, reliability, or cost claims about the implementation.

A separate author-profile result describes Harun as a 12-year-old founder and CEO at HYNAWEB and lists an associated site. Those are profile claims, not independently verified facts, and they do not supply the missing technical account.
