To find a DJI drone’s Remote ID serial number, first check the model and the format of its serial number. On some DJI aircraft, the Remote ID number is the same as the aircraft serial number; on others, it is different and must be found in the flight-control app or in the drone’s nearby Wi-Fi broadcast. These instructions reflect DJI’s guidance for the U.S. FAA process; requirements may differ elsewhere.
Is the Remote ID number the same as the aircraft serial number?
Not always. DJI says that for certain models with a 20-character alphanumeric serial number beginning with 1581F, the aircraft serial number is also the Remote ID serial number and generally matches the flight-controller serial number. DJI gives examples including the Mavic 3 series, Mini 3 series, Avata, Matrice 30 series, and Mavic 3 Enterprise series.

Some DJI models with a 14-character serial number have a separate Remote ID serial number. DJI lists the Air 2S, Matrice 300 RTK, and Agras T30 as examples. These examples are not a complete compatibility list, so check DJI’s model-specific Remote ID FAQ and the aircraft’s firmware information rather than assuming the numbers match.
Where to look for your DJI Remote ID serial number
1. Check the aircraft and box labels
If your model uses the aircraft serial number as its Remote ID number, check the packaging sticker and the label on the aircraft. The aircraft label may be inside the battery compartment or elsewhere on the fuselage.

2. Look in the flight-control app
For DJI Fly, DJI’s instructions for checking the flight-controller serial number are: connect the aircraft to the remote controller, open Camera View, tap the menu in the top-right corner, then go to About > Serial Number. The number displayed there is not necessarily the Remote ID number on every model. To find the Remote ID number, use the entry for your exact aircraft in DJI’s Remote ID FAQ.
DJI also provides app guidance for DJI GO 4, DJI GO, DJI Pilot, DJI Pilot 2, GS RTK, GS Pro, SmartFarm, and DJI MG. The menu path and the serial number shown depend on the app and aircraft model. For Agras aircraft, DJI’s Agras Remote ID guide describes app and Wi-Fi lookup methods and distinguishes between 20-character and 14-character flight-controller serial numbers.

3. Scan for the aircraft’s Remote ID Wi-Fi broadcast
If the number is separate from the aircraft serial number, DJI says you can look for it in the aircraft’s broadcast. Use the remote controller to start the motors, then scan for available Wi-Fi networks on a phone or tablet near the drone. The broadcast network name starts with RID-, followed by the Remote ID serial number. Your device may not show it on the first scan; repeat or refresh the scan because discovery timing can vary.

Check that Remote ID is functioning
Before relying on the number, check the Remote ID status shown in the applicable DJI app. DJI describes “Takeoff permitted” and “Remote ID functionality normal” as normal status indications in DJI Fly. If the app does not show a normal status, consult DJI’s model-specific instructions rather than treating a serial number found on a label or Wi-Fi scan as proof that Remote ID is operating correctly.

Which lookup method should you use?
| Situation | Where to check | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
Your model uses a 20-character serial beginning with 1581F |
Aircraft label or box sticker; confirm the model in DJI’s Remote ID FAQ | DJI says the aircraft serial number is also the Remote ID number for the listed models. |
| Your model has a 14-character serial and a separate Remote ID number | Model-specific entry in the flight-control app, or a nearby Wi-Fi scan while the aircraft broadcasts Remote ID | The aircraft serial number may not be the Remote ID number. |
| You are unsure which serial number the app displays | Check the exact model and app instructions in DJI’s Remote ID FAQ | App menus and the serial number shown vary by model and app. |
Does this apply outside the United States?
DJI’s cited Remote ID instructions address the U.S. FAA process. If you operate in another country or under a different aviation authority, check that authority’s current Remote ID requirements; do not assume the U.S. registration process applies.
