Run the diagnostic checks built into your Pixel before requesting a repair: on supported phones, open Settings > Device health & support, then review the health information and checks available for your device. The results can help you investigate a problem, but they do not prove that a component has failed or replace a repair inspection.
Where is the Pixel hardware diagnostic menu?
Google calls these checks diagnostics; they are not all hardware tests. On Pixel 6 and later, including Pixel Fold, open Settings > Device health & support and scroll to the available diagnostics. Alternatively, open Settings and search for diagnostics, or search for a feature such as battery, charging, or touch. The checks shown depend on the phone model and feature. Google’s Pixel diagnostics instructions describe the menu and eligibility.

How do I run diagnostics on my Pixel before repair?
- Open Settings. Go to Device health & support, or search Settings for “diagnostics.”
- Choose an available check. Look for one related to the problem—for example, battery, charging, or touch—and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Review the result and any suggested solution. If the problem continues, use Google’s repair process to see options for your phone, warranty status, and location.
Diagnostic availability is model-specific: most checks are available on Pixel 6 and later, including Fold; touch diagnostics require Pixel 9 or later; and calls, mobile data, and Wi-Fi diagnostics are limited to Pixel 11 series in the US. Google also documents Ask Pixel Help on Pixel 9 and later in English, German, and Japanese. These features and eligibility details can change, so consult the current Google diagnostics instructions for your model.
What the checks can—and cannot—tell you
A check may help narrow down an issue or suggest a next step. It is not a guarantee that every fault will be detected: a result alone cannot establish that all hardware is working, identify every defect, or determine whether repair is necessary. If the issue persists, check the repair options Google offers rather than treating a diagnostic result as a repair decision.

What repair options can you request?
Use Google’s repair options page to see what is available for your device and location. Depending on those details and warranty status, Google may present mail-in or walk-in service; some locations use repair partners. Availability can change, so check the page rather than assuming a service type is offered where you live. For a walk-in visit, contact the repair center about appointments, repair time, and any possible diagnosis cost. Review the displayed coverage and estimated cost before proceeding.

Back up your data and remove the SIM before taking or sending in the phone. For eligible devices, Google offers Repair Mode so technicians can service the phone without a factory reset. Google says it is available on Pixel phones running Android 14 with the December 2023 update or later and at least 2 GB of free space. It starts a clean Android OS in a dedicated secure partition with limited functions; it does not guarantee that every repair can be completed without data loss. Follow the current instructions for your device and back up regardless.

- Open Settings > System > Repair mode.
- Enter your screen-lock credential and let the phone restart.
- Do not share your screen-lock credential with the technician.
