Where Is the WPS Button on a Spectrum WiFi 6 Router?

The Spectrum SAX1V1R WiFi 6 router guide says WPS is not enabled, so connect devices with the network name and password on the label. Check your model number first.

On the Spectrum WiFi 6 router model SAX1V1R, you should not expect a WPS button to work. The SAX1V1R user guide states that the WPS feature is not enabled on that router, and it tells you to connect new devices manually using the information printed on the router label. Because Spectrum sells more than one WiFi 6 model, check the model number on your unit before you follow any button-based instructions.

What the SAX1V1R guide says about WPS

The Spectrum WiFi 6 Router user guide for the SAX1V1R, reproduced by Manuals+ and dated June 5, 2023, includes this statement: “The WPS feature is not enabled on this router.” Its troubleshooting entry on WPS adds that a new device should be configured manually, either with the wireless details on the router label or through Spectrum’s WPS setup page.

Check your model number first

Spectrum’s equipment manuals index lists three WiFi 6 router models. The SAX1V1R guide above covers only the first of them. Nothing in the material reviewed shows that the SAX1V1K or SAX1V1S has the same panel layout or the same WPS behaviour, so do not apply the SAX1V1R answer to them without checking their own documentation.

Model Listed as WiFi 6 router in Spectrum’s manuals index WPS information in the documentation reviewed
SAX1V1R Yes User guide states WPS is not enabled; manual setup recommended
SAX1V1K Yes Not stated
SAX1V1S Yes Not stated

The index was checked on October 7, 2026, and the SAX1V1R guide is the only WiFi 6 manual in this comparison with an explicit WPS statement.

How to connect a device without WPS

If your router is a SAX1V1R, or you have no reliable WPS instructions for your model, connect devices with the network name and password that Spectrum prints on the router. Spectrum’s self-installation instructions for the Advanced WiFi 6 router describe the same method.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Turn the router over and find the equipment label on the back. Note the default WiFi network name and the default password.
  2. On the new device, open its Wi-Fi network list and select the default network name from the label.
  3. Enter the default password exactly as printed, including capital letters and symbols, and join the network.
  4. If the device connects but you want to change the network name or password afterwards, or if the label is unreadable, use Spectrum’s WPS setup page at spectrum.net/wpssetup, which the SAX1V1R guide names as a source for wireless setup.

Why some sources still mention a WPS button

The SAX1V1R guide is internally inconsistent. Its troubleshooting entry says WPS is not enabled, but a later generic FAQ says the router includes a built-in WPS button located near the Ethernet ports. The FAQ’s location is the only place in this material that describes a button, and it conflicts with the more specific statement.

Do not assume the button exists on your router because a generic FAQ says so. If the unit in front of you has a button labelled WPS, the documentation reviewed does not explain what that button does on your model. Check your model’s own manual or contact Spectrum support before pressing it on a network you rely on.

Managing settings in the My Spectrum App

Spectrum Support’s self-installation guide for the Advanced WiFi 6 router says the My Spectrum App can change your WiFi network name and password and manage the devices connected to your network. The same guide does not describe a WPS-style pairing function in the app, so use the app to manage credentials and devices, not to join a new device by button.

If a device will not connect

  • Compare the network name and password with the equipment label letter by letter. Mistyped characters are the most common cause of a failed manual join.
  • Move the device closer to the router and try again, then restart the device’s Wi-Fi.
  • If the label is missing, damaged, or does not match the network you see, contact Spectrum support rather than guessing credentials.
