A full reset removes apps and personal settings, so use it only after simpler troubleshooting steps fail. If you only need to restore picture and sound settings, look for the separate A/V Reset option.
Where to find the reset control on an LG TV
LG’s general reset instructions use the remote’s Settings button and an on-screen menu. They do not identify a physical reset button location that applies across LG TV models. If you suspect your particular TV has a physical control, check its owner’s manual or model-specific LG support page rather than trying an undocumented button combination. A standard reset through Settings does not require a special tool.

How to factory-reset an LG TV by model generation
Open Settings with the remote, then follow the path that matches your TV. LG notes that menu labels and screens can vary by model.

Follow the prompts shown on screen. On the webOS 24/25 reset path described by LG, you may see two choices: Reset All, which also resets network settings, or Reset all except network settings, which retains wired and wireless network settings. After the reset, the TV restarts at its initial screen and asks you to set it up again. If your menu does not match these paths, use the help page for your exact model.

What a full reset removes and what to expect
A reset restores the TV to its initial settings. LG warns that it can remove installed apps, personal settings, saved data, and account information. You may need to reinstall or reopen apps and sign in again. If TV Lock is enabled, you need the password to proceed.
- Do not unplug the TV or turn it off while the reset is in progress.
- Allow the TV to restart and complete setup before deciding whether the original problem remains.
- A reset may help with some remote-control, software, or app errors, but it is not a guaranteed repair. If the issue persists, contact LG support.
Resetting picture and sound without a full factory reset
If the problem is limited to picture or sound settings, LG describes a separate A/V Reset for supported models. Exit internal apps and menus, press Mute three times, then select AV Reset if the option appears. Availability and menu details vary by model. This is narrower than a full reset: it restores picture and sound settings rather than erasing the TV’s apps and general settings.

If the remote is missing or unusable
The standard reset route requires the remote’s Settings button. If you need another remote, confirm compatibility with your exact TV model before choosing one; LG’s general reset instructions do not identify a universally compatible replacement. For model-specific alternatives or help when you cannot reach Settings, consult the TV’s owner’s manual or LG product support.
