ChannelNews reported that the mobile operation had moved from Sydney to Melbourne, where TCL’s Australian head office is based. It named JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman as potential retail targets, but did not report confirmed listings from either retailer. Talks about distribution are not the same as a completed deal.
Which TCL phones might come to Australia?

The P80 Ultra is a global product that could be relevant if TCL selects it for Australia. TCL’s official product page lists a 5,800mAh battery; that global specification does not establish an Australian release, price or warranty. TCL P80 Ultra product page
P80 Ultra and P80 Pro
ChannelNews described the P80 Ultra and P80 Pro as the first TCL phones to combine NXTPAPER with AMOLED. For the Ultra, the report relayed TCL’s IFA specifications: a 6.83-inch 120Hz NXTPAPER AMOLED display, a 5,800mAh battery, a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto camera and an ultrawide camera. These are global product details, not confirmed Australian specifications; check the eventual local model listing before relying on them.

P80 and NXTPAPER 70 Pro
The standard P80 is a distinct model: ChannelNews said it has an AMOLED panel but not NXTPAPER. The same report also mentioned a separate 2026 NXTPAPER 70 Pro, with a 6.9-inch NXTPAPER 4.0 screen and a physical switch for reading modes. Neither handset is confirmed for the Australian relaunch.
What NXTPAPER does—and what it is not
NXTPAPER is TCL’s display approach for reducing glare and reflections and supporting reading-oriented display controls. It is not E Ink: the proposition is a colour phone screen that can still show video and photos, with modes intended to make reading more paper-like. What needs to be confirmed before buying
The commercial test is whether TCL secures retail or carrier distribution and which products those partners agree to range. The report places the company in a competitive market that includes Samsung, Motorola, Oppo, Honor and Nothing, but it provides no Australian sales or market-share figures establishing how the relaunch is performing.
