Conditions will vary with location. The NWS discussion distinguishes coastal areas from inland locations and notes that higher terrain can be colder. Its regional ranges are not a town-by-town forecast, so check the updated forecast for your specific location rather than assuming every part of Massachusetts will reach the same temperature.

How certain is the stronger cold push?
The overall pattern points to colder weather behind the front, but the exact strength is not fully settled. NWS ensemble guidance cited in the October 2 discussion gives a 30–50% chance that the low will deepen below 980 millibars. That is a forecast probability for this weather system, not an observed statistic; greater deepening could support stronger cold-air advection.
