Samsung’s reviewed charging guidance does not prescribe a best time of day or a preferred battery percentage for charging a Galaxy Watch. Charge it when it is off your wrist and that time suits your routine; a regular window when you are not wearing it is a practical choice, not a Samsung-mandated schedule.
Does charging time affect your Galaxy Watch battery?
The reviewed Samsung guidance focuses on compatible chargers and charging conditions, not on a particular hour or battery threshold. It does not establish that charging overnight, in the morning, or at a specific percentage is better for battery life. Choose a convenient time rather than treating a particular schedule as a requirement.

One older exception should not be generalized: a Samsung Gear S3 guide recommends wearing that model during the day and charging it at night. That advice is specific to the Gear S3 and does not establish Samsung’s recommendation for newer Galaxy Watch models.

Choose a convenient off-wrist window
Pick a time when you can comfortably leave the watch on its charger. That might be while getting ready, showering, or winding down for the day. If you rely on the watch during sleep, charging before bed or after waking may fit better than charging overnight. These are routine suggestions, not a Samsung-prescribed schedule.

Use a charger compatible with your watch
Charger recommendations differ by generation and may vary by region. Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance lists these charger models:

Set up charging to avoid slow or interrupted charging
- Align the watch: Samsung’s UK guide advises centering the back of the watch on the wireless charger.
- Keep both surfaces clean and dry: Check the watch’s back and the charging pad for moisture or debris before charging.
- Use a suitable power source: Samsung identifies inadequate adapters or power sources, multi-port hubs, and PC connections as possible causes of slower or interrupted charging.
- Keep the watch off your wrist while charging: Using it while it charges can slow charging.
What about charging from a phone?
Samsung says Wireless Power Sharing from a phone can charge more slowly than a dedicated charging setup, and its guidance lists some newer watch models as incompatible with the feature. Check compatibility for your specific watch and phone rather than assuming that the feature will work. For a predictable routine, use the charger intended for your watch generation.

There is no single charging time established for every Galaxy Watch in the reviewed guidance. Samsung says actual charging time varies with the charger’s condition and the watch’s state; using the watch while charging can also slow it. If charging seems unusually slow or stops, check the power source, charger compatibility, alignment, and whether the charging surfaces are clean and dry.
