NYT says new Spelling Bee puzzles are released at 3 a.m. EST every day. Its help page uses the label “EST” and does not explain how that maps to local time during daylight saving or in other time zones.

What time does the new puzzle appear?

The New York Times Spelling Bee help page states: “New Spelling Bee puzzles are released at 3 a.m. EST every day of the week.” The page does not promise an exact second of availability.

Does 3 a.m. EST change with daylight saving time?

The NYT help page gives the release time as EST but does not clarify whether the schedule shifts when daylight saving time is in effect. It also does not provide conversions for other regions. For that reason, the published statement should not be treated as a confirmed year-round 3 a.m. Eastern local-time schedule.

Where can you play Spelling Bee?

NYT lists the NYT Games app, the Spelling Bee page, and the Games section of the NYT News app as places to play. The game uses selected letters, and each answer must include the center letter; the daily word list is curated by an editor.

Can you play older puzzles?

According to the NYT help page, subscribers can play past puzzles at any time. NYT identifies the full Spelling Bee experience as available to New York Times Games, All Access, and Home Delivery subscribers. Spelling Bee is also listed on the NYT Games subscription page.
