For a mostly still 1080p music stream, start with 1920×1080 progressive at 30 fps, H.264 at 5 Mbps using CBR, stereo AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz, and a keyframe every two seconds. Use RTMPS if your encoder supports it. These are YouTube’s recommended ingest settings for this format, not a guarantee that every viewer will receive 1080p: YouTube transcodes live video for different devices and network conditions.
Recommended 1080p settings for a music stream
A static cover, album image, or gently moving visual usually does not need 60 fps. Choose 60 fps only if the picture has enough motion to benefit from it; the frame-rate choice here is a practical recommendation, not a special YouTube rule for Indian music.

| Encoder setting | Recommended starting point | When to adjust |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 1920×1080 | Set the encoder output to 1080p. YouTube can detect resolution and frame rate automatically by default. |
| Frame rate | 30 fps | Use 60 fps when the visual motion warrants it. |
| Video codec and bitrate | H.264 at 5 Mbps for 1080p30 | For 1080p60, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps H.264. For AV1 or H.265/HEVC, it recommends 10 Mbps at either 1080p30 or 1080p60. Confirm that your encoder supports the codec you choose. |
| Rate control | CBR (constant bitrate) | Use CBR for the live encoding mode listed by YouTube. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds. At 30 fps, two seconds equals 60 frames. |
| Audio | Stereo AAC, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz | YouTube also lists MP3 as a supported RTMP/RTMPS audio codec. AAC is the listed option for 5.1 surround over RTMP/RTMPS. |
| Picture format | Progressive, square pixels, Rec. 709 SDR | SDR is the straightforward choice for ordinary music artwork. |
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS | Use it where the encoder offers it; it encrypts the connection to Google’s servers. |
These settings follow YouTube Help’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance. YouTube’s page does not provide a publication year for the recommendations cited here.

- Set the output format. Choose 1920×1080 progressive video at 30 fps for a still or gently animated music visual.
- Choose the video encoding. For the broadly supported H.264 starting point, set CBR and 5 Mbps. If using AV1 or H.265/HEVC, set 10 Mbps at 1080p30 and verify compatibility among the encoder, ingest setup, and playback workflow.
- Set keyframes and audio. Configure a two-second keyframe interval, then select stereo AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz.
- Set the ingest connection. Select RTMPS if available and enter the stream key provided in YouTube’s live-stream setup. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or include it in a screen recording.
- Test with the real program material. Check representative music audio and the visual movement, then review YouTube’s stream-health messages. YouTube advises that tests include audio and movement similar to the planned stream.
- Check recording and failover separately. If keeping a local archive or backup encoder matters, verify that the recording is actually being written and test the backup path before relying on it.
For stream setup, YouTube’s encoder workflow guide describes creating a live stream with an encoder and lists encoder products and services, including options described for continuous streams.

Support for VISCA over IP encoder workflows enables flexible PTZ control, while the dashboard provides video preview and system status.
Bandwidth and continuity for a 24/7 broadcast
Check sustained upload capacity at the connection that will send the stream; download speed does not establish whether the uplink is sufficient. YouTube recommends keeping 20% headroom beyond the primary stream, backup stream, and total bitrate. Its streaming tips cover bandwidth and network reliability. A wired connection and active monitoring are sensible operating choices, but neither guarantees uninterrupted service.
- Measure upload performance where the encoder will run, not only on a different network or device.
- Account for the full outbound load, including any backup stream, before deciding that the connection has enough headroom.
- Watch stream health after launch and have a recovery plan; a successful preflight test cannot prove that a long-running connection will never fail.
How a 24/7 stream affects replay and DVR
Do not assume YouTube will retain a complete replay of an uninterrupted broadcast. YouTube says a live stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and DVR rewind can be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Keep a local recording if retaining the full program matters. See YouTube’s guidance on archiving live streams and DVR for live streams.

Copyright and channel suitability
Before using recorded songs, artwork, or other material, make sure you have the rights and permissions needed for a public live broadcast on YouTube. Music rights can apply to the recording and the underlying composition, and permission for one does not automatically establish permission for the other. Review the rights for every track and visual element, and check YouTube’s current rules and any notices in the channel’s account. A continuous stream does not itself establish that the content is eligible for monetization or that it complies with YouTube’s policies.

Run the stream from a computer or in the cloud
Do it yourself with an encoder
A software encoder, dedicated hardware encoder, or cloud playout service can send a stream; YouTube does not establish that paid hardware is required. For a local software or hardware setup, configure the settings above, connect it to the YouTube stream using RTMPS where supported, and test the complete path. The trade-off is operational: the sending setup and its network connection must remain available, and you must monitor recovery and recording yourself. YouTube’s encoder list includes products and services described for continuous use, including Gyre for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams and CamStreamer for continuous camera streams; this list is not an endorsement for this music use case.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping an uploaded-video YouTube stream live: upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud loops the uploaded videos, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera.

Common problems and what to check
- Stream health reports connection or bitrate trouble: check the actual upload connection and total outbound load, including any backup stream; apply YouTube’s 20% headroom recommendation.
- Video looks soft or viewers report buffering: verify that the encoder is sending the intended resolution and bitrate, then review stream health. YouTube transcodes for viewers, so a 1080p source does not mean every viewer receives 1080p.
- Audio is absent or incorrect: confirm the selected audio device/source and stereo AAC settings, then test with representative audio before relaunching.
- The stream disconnects: inspect the network and encoder status, then reconnect using the current stream key and test any backup path. A backup should not be treated as working until failover has been tested.
- The full replay is missing or rewind is limited: this can occur for a stream longer than 12 hours; use a verified local recording when a complete archive is required.
