For local PC game streaming, choose an Android handheld around its Wi-Fi connection, streaming-app compatibility, screen, controls and comfort—not processor specifications alone. Moonlight recommends a good 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 connection for the handheld and Ethernet from the gaming PC to the router. Those are useful starting points, not guarantees of a particular image quality or latency in your home.
Start with the network you will actually use
In local streaming, the PC runs the game and sends video to the handheld over your home network. A weak or congested wireless link between the handheld and router can undermine the experience regardless of the device’s other specifications. Check signal quality where you plan to play, not just the router’s advertised capabilities.

- Handheld to router: Moonlight recommends a good 5 GHz connection using Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) or Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax).
- Gaming PC to router: Moonlight recommends connecting the host PC by Ethernet.
- Router: Moonlight advises using a mid- to high-end wireless router.
These recommendations are a baseline; walls, distance, interference, router placement and other network use can affect the result. For local PC streaming, your internet service is not the main link between the PC and handheld. Cloud streaming is different: it relies on an internet connection to the streaming service.

Check that your preferred streaming app fits your PC
Choose the software route before buying, then verify that it works with your host PC, games and desired controls. The two options below have different host requirements and setup paths.

Android compatibility by itself does not guarantee that a particular handheld, PC setup or game will work exactly as you expect. Test the intended app and host arrangement where possible before committing to a device.
Match the display and controls to your games
Consider the whole handheld, not just screen resolution. Screen size, refresh rate and the position and feel of the controls all shape whether a device suits the games you play and the length of your sessions.

- Screen: Compare size and resolution, and decide whether the image is comfortable to read at handheld distance.
- Refresh rate: A faster screen can matter only when the game, PC, network, streaming app and client can all support an appropriately fast stream.
- Controls: Check stick and button layout, trigger feel and whether the controls suit your usual genres.
- Comfort: If possible, hold the device for a while. Weight distribution and grip can matter over a full session, but the available specifications do not establish how comfortable a particular model will feel to you.
Moonlight’s Google Play listing describes streaming capability of up to 4K at 120 FPS with HDR. “Up to” is a capability claim, not an expected result for every handheld or setup: the host PC, game, network, app and client must all support the relevant stream. A handheld with a 60 Hz display, for example, cannot show 120 distinct screen refreshes per second.

Read battery estimates with their conditions
Battery figures are estimates tied to particular settings and use conditions, not a guarantee for every streaming session. Compare the manufacturer’s stated brightness, volume and usage assumptions with how you expect to play; workload and settings can change actual runtime.

Logitech lists approximately 12 hours of cloud play for the G Cloud under “normal play condition,” specified as 50% volume and 50% brightness. This is Logitech’s estimate, not an independently measured result, and it refers to cloud play under those stated conditions.
Choose between an integrated handheld and your existing device
A dedicated Android handheld combines its display and controls in one unit. Another option is an Android phone or tablet paired with a telescopic or Bluetooth controller, particularly if you already own a suitable screen device. Neither form factor is a universal winner: compare the tradeoffs against how and where you play.

Logitech’s published specifications list Android 11, a 7-inch 1920 × 1080 display with a 60 Hz refresh rate, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi using 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and a 6000 mAh battery. Logitech also estimates approximately 12 hours of cloud play at 50% volume and 50% brightness.
