The story setup: two dates, one attempt to change history
The Heroic Games in 1449
Nintendo UK places the earlier story strand in 1449, in Dagsion, the capital of the Dagdan Empire. The city hosts the Heroic Games, a major competition whose winner is promised one wish. Four heroes have interwoven journeys during this period, although Nintendo’s summaries do not establish every connection between them.
The crisis in 1454
Five years later, in 1454, the Dagdan Empire is facing ruin after the demon god Balor returns. Nintendo’s synopsis says Fortuna offers a soul a way to alter the fates of heroes from the past, creating the reason to travel through time and revisit the earlier era. Nintendo’s product copy summarizes the objective as: “Travel through time to gather allies and defeat the demon god Balor.” That is publisher wording, not a quotation from a named individual.
The chronology matters because the game is not simply a tournament story followed by unrelated missions. The activities around the 1449 competition are presented as the means to gather allies, develop heroes, and affect the future crisis in 1454. The official descriptions do not reveal how every choice changes the narrative, so it is safest to expect a story built around consequences without assuming a particular branching structure.

Dagsion functions as the preparation hub. Nintendo describes recruiting allies, training, building bonds at inns, and visiting temples to level Blessings. These activities suggest that time in the city is part of progression rather than a menu between battles: you decide which relationships and character improvements to pursue before heading out.
Recruit, train, and strengthen relationships
Recruitment expands the group available for quests and battles. Training develops the heroes you choose to use, while inns provide opportunities to build bonds. Temples are associated with leveling Blessings, a progression element named in Nintendo’s product description. The official pages do not specify every Blessing effect, the number of recruitable characters, or whether any recruit can be permanently missed, so do not plan around assumptions from earlier entries in the series.
Take quests and gather resources
From the city, you can venture onto the world map for quests, resource gathering, and encounters with roaming enemies. This creates a second layer of decision-making: preparation in Dagsion determines which team and improvements you bring, while travel exposes you to materials and battles that can support later preparation.

Dungeons contain materials and treasure. They also include encounters called “Clashes.” Nintendo describes Clashes as turn-based fights in which teams take turns attacking. The available information does not establish dungeon length, randomization, escape rules, or whether treasure is protected by optional challenges, so those details should be discovered in the game rather than inferred.

Compete in Heroic Games battles
The Heroic Games matches are tactical battles that can introduce special rules or terrain. That wording is significant: not every match is necessarily governed by the same objective or battlefield layout. Expect to read the conditions of each contest instead of treating every map as a simple defeat-all-enemies exercise. Nintendo has not published a complete list of rules, map types, or victory conditions.
Fortuna’s Blessing and the advertised rewind system
Nintendo Australia names Fortuna’s Blessing as an ability that lets you return to any previous point in a battle after each move. In practical terms, Nintendo is advertising an in-battle rewind: after a move, you can go back to an earlier state and try a different action.
The official description does not state how many rewinds are available, whether they are limited by difficulty, whether they consume a resource, or whether every battle supports them. It also does not define what counts as a previous point or how far back the system can go. Use the feature as a tool for learning tactical consequences, but wait for the in-game rules before planning around unlimited retries or assuming it replaces every form of risk.

Do you already have the required hardware?
The first decision is hardware access. Because the listed release is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, a player without that console must include the system purchase in the overall cost and setup. The official material reviewed here does not establish a lower-specification version for older hardware.
