Choose Windows when a required program needs it
Windows is the safer direction for Windows-only applications, but a low-cost new model may have limited memory and storage. What do 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage mean in practice?
Several of the listed configurations have 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage. On the ASUS Chromebook CX15, RTINGS says 4GB can work if you keep to a few tabs and apps; background tabs may be unloaded and need to reload when revisited. That is not a basis for expecting smooth heavy multitasking.

Storage type and upgrade options are model-specific. Do not assume eMMC, UFS, or another compact storage configuration can be upgraded. Best Buy notes that many budget computers have limited upgradability, so check the specifications for the exact SKU before purchase.
How much do screen size and portability matter?
An 11.6-inch screen is more compact, 14 inches is a middle ground, and 15.6 inches provides more room for documents and video. Resolution matters too: the Smartprix Acer listing specifies Full HD (1920×1080), while the Target HP Stream listing specifies HD. A larger screen can be less convenient to carry, so choose based on where you will use the laptop most.
