If your Ryobi battery won’t charge or its fuel-gauge bars won’t light, first identify the exact battery and charger models. Check the manuals and charger indicator guide for those models; missing bars alone do not prove the battery has failed. If the problem persists, contact RYOBI support with the battery, a compatible tool, and the charger available.
Start by identifying the battery and charger
Read the labels on both products and write down their model numbers. RYOBI’s support site uses model numbers to find manuals, parts, and repair information; it notes that model numbers commonly start with a letter followed by numbers and letters. Use the RYOBI support page to look up each model.

Confirm that the charger is intended for your battery platform and model. For example, RYOBI identifies the PBP003 as an 18V ONE+ 2Ah lithium high-performance battery with an onboard LED fuel gauge, and says its 18V ONE+ batteries are compatible with 18V ONE+ tools. That example does not establish compatibility for every Ryobi battery and charger; check the documentation for your products.

Find the battery manual and the charger manual or indicator guide that match your model numbers. Follow the guide’s instructions for the indicator behavior you see. RYOBI lists an LED indicator guide for the PCLBG06 18V ONE+ 200W Power Source/Charger on its product support page.

Do not assume that a particular blink, color, or lack of bars means the same thing across Ryobi models. The PCLBG06 guide’s light-pattern definitions are not reproduced here, and the symptom alone does not establish a temperature issue, deep discharge, failed cell, or faulty charger. Use the instructions for your exact model or ask RYOBI to diagnose it.
Why missing fuel-gauge bars are not a diagnosis
A fuel gauge is a feature on some batteries: RYOBI lists an onboard LED gauge for the PBP003. But that product information does not explain why a gauge might fail to illuminate or establish that an unlit gauge means the battery is unusable. Check the battery and charger instructions, then seek model-specific support if the issue continues.

For a potential warranty replacement, RYOBI advises contacting customer service and having the battery, a compatible tool, and the charger available. Its support resources also include warranty information, Rapid Repair, service centers, replacement parts, recall information, and battery recycling guidance.
Before replacing the battery or charger
- Check the warranty and service options before buying a replacement.
- Verify the battery platform and model, and confirm charger compatibility.
- Consider that the charger may be involved; do not buy a replacement battery based only on unlit gauge bars.
- Use RYOBI’s model lookup and service resources to find the correct manual, repair route, or part.
Do not open the battery pack, bypass its protection circuitry, or attempt an improvised jump-start. Use the manufacturer’s model-specific instructions or authorized service instead. RYOBI’s P108 support page, for example, provides the 18V Li-ion battery pack manual and official service and repair routes for that model.
