If a Philips trimmer charger does not fit, stop and do not force it. Philips warns that forcing an ill-fitting plug can damage the device. Find the trimmer’s full model number, then confirm the correct charger or cable through Philips Parts & Accessories or Philips support; a charger from another Philips grooming product is not necessarily compatible.
Stop before trying to make the plug fit
Do not push, bend, shave, or modify either connector. Philips Support’s guidance for an ill-fitting OneBlade charger is direct: “Do not force it in, as that may damage the device.” The warning is relevant to avoiding damage, but the right charger for a trimmer depends on its exact model.

Even if another Philips charger looks similar, that does not establish compatibility. Philips recommends using the charger or USB cable supplied with the grooming product, or the one specified for it.

Check the trimmer itself, its packaging, receipt, or manual for the complete model number, including any suffix. Philips’ personal-care model-number guidance describes where to look on different products and directs customers to search by product number. Products in the same series can use different compatible parts, so a series name alone may not be enough.

Confirm the compatible charger or cable
- Go to Philips Parts & Accessories and search using the trimmer’s full model number.
- Check the listed compatible charger or cable against your product’s charging arrangement and connector. Do not rely on appearance or the Philips name alone.
- If you cannot confirm the part, contact Philips Consumer Care and ask which charger or cable is compatible with that exact model.
For a third-party listing, require an explicit match to the full model number and connector. Philips’ own parts lookup or support is the authoritative compatibility check.
Know what HQ87 does—and does not do
Philips identifies HQ87 as a USB-A wall adapter for supported USB-charging grooming products, including some trimmers. It is relevant only if your product uses a supported Philips USB charging cable. In that setup, the cable that plugs into the trimmer and the wall adapter are separate parts: HQ87 does not convert a mismatched device-side plug into a compatible one.

Adapter naming, availability, and the process for obtaining one vary by region. Check Philips’ guidance for your location and your full model number before seeking HQ87.
If the correct charger fits but the trimmer still will not charge
- Try a different outlet that you know works.
- Verify that you have the charger or cable specified for the exact model, and insert the connector gently and fully.
- If your trimmer uses a USB charging cable, try another suitable USB power source.
- Follow the charging and cleaning instructions in the manual for your model. Philips notes that cleaning may be needed if a product will not switch on.
- If charging still fails, contact Philips support with the model number.
