If a Kindle book disappears, first check whether it is merely missing from one device or view, or absent from your Amazon account’s content list. Confirm the device is online, sync it, and clear library filters. If the title is listed in your account, deliver it to the device; if it is not, check the order’s payment status.
First identify where the book is missing
Open Amazon’s Manage Your Content and Devices and look for the title. If it appears there but not in the Kindle app or on an e-reader, focus on the library view, sync, or delivery. If it is absent from account content too, check the order instead.

If the book is missing from one app or Kindle
1. Check the connection
Connect to Wi-Fi and make sure Airplane mode is off. Amazon Customer Service states that “A working internet connection is required to purchase, download, or sync books to your library.”
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2. Sync the library
Start a sync, wait for it to finish, then check the library again. Amazon says sync is enabled by default on Kindle apps and devices and requires an internet connection. It also keeps reading position, notes, and highlights in sync across linked devices.

3. Check the library view and filters
In the Kindle app, open Library, select All, clear any active filters, refresh the library, and search for the title. Sorting by Recent can move newly added content toward the top while the library refreshes. A filter or a view limited to downloaded books can make a title seem missing even when it remains in the account.

4. Deliver the title to the device
If the book appears in Manage Your Content and Devices but not on the intended device, select the title’s delivery option, choose Deliver or remove from device, select the target device, and apply the change. Then sync the app or e-reader. Amazon’s Kindle content troubleshooting guide covers delivery and syncing.
If the book is absent from account content
Check Your Orders and open Digital Orders to confirm the transaction completed. If payment is incomplete, Amazon may offer Retry Payment Method or Change Payment Method. Resolve the order status, then check account content and sync or deliver the title as needed.

If syncing and delivery do not restore the book
Restart and update the Kindle
Amazon recommends restarting the Kindle and keeping it charged during the restart. Its troubleshooting guidance also advises installing the most recent software update. After restarting, connect to Wi-Fi and sync again.
Consider deregistration only as a later step
Deregistering is not an initial fix in Amazon’s missing-content guidance. Amazon warns that deregistration temporarily removes access to the Amazon account, purchased content, and Amazon services on that device. Registering again with the same credentials restores access. It does not mean the account’s purchases are deleted. See How to Deregister Your Amazon Device before using this step.
