If you suspect an Aave V3 oracle problem, first verify the exact chain, market, assets and on-chain position, then check your health factor and Aave’s official updates. If your position needs more safety margin, Aave identifies supplying collateral or repaying debt as ways to improve its health factor. The PriceOracleSentinel is conditional protection—not a guarantee that liquidations stop during every kind of oracle problem.
1. Verify which Aave deployment and position you mean
Aave V3 is deployed across markets, and the oracle source and reserve settings can differ between them—even for the same token. Make sure you have identified the chain and market, the collateral reserve, the borrowed asset and the specific position you are monitoring. A report about one network or asset does not establish that another market is affected.

- Open the Aave interface and select the network and market where your position is held.
- Check the collateral and debt shown for that position against a reliable view of the same on-chain account.
- Confirm that any report you are evaluating names the same chain, market and asset. Treat a displayed price that looks unusual as a reason to investigate, not by itself as proof of an oracle failure.
Aave describes its AaveOracle and oracle system as the mechanism for supplying asset prices to the protocol. Aave also warns that reliance on third-party oracles can expose the protocol to incorrect valuations if a source fails or is compromised; see its risk documentation.
2. Check your health factor and liquidation exposure
Aave’s health factor combines the value of your collateral, its weighted-average liquidation threshold and the value of your debt. Aave gives the formula as: Health Factor = (Total Collateral Value × Weighted Average Liquidation Threshold) / Total Borrow Value. Prices and accrued debt can change the inputs, so a health factor is a changing reading of a position, not a fixed guarantee.

Aave documents a health factor below 1 as the threshold at which a position becomes eligible for liquidation. Its V3 overview says external liquidators can repay part of the debt and receive collateral with a liquidation bonus when the factor falls below 1. The amount and applicable parameters depend on the specific deployment and protocol state; do not infer a particular liquidation amount from the general rule.
Check the health factor shown for your own position and, where possible, verify that it reflects the same on-chain account and market. A concerning interface value, stale display or unconfirmed report does not establish which oracle is at fault—or whether your position is affected. Aave’s help documentation includes an illustrative calculation, not a recommended borrowing ratio for every user.

3. Check whether Aave has confirmed a market-specific issue
Look for an official Aave incident or governance update that identifies the affected network, market or assets and states what action, if any, has been taken. Confirm whether Aave says an oracle source changed or a reserve or pool was paused. Do not assume a reserve has been paused simply because a report describes an unhealthy oracle.
The documented mechanics here do not establish that a particular oracle incident is active, which markets or assets might be affected, or whether Aave has paused a reserve. Those are live-status questions: use current official Aave communications and the relevant deployment’s on-chain state rather than treating a general description of oracle risk as confirmation of an incident.

4. Understand what the PriceOracleSentinel can—and cannot—do
Aave says the PriceOracleSentinel checks whether certain operations are allowed based on oracle health. On deployments where it is configured, it can restrict borrowing and liquidation during an outage and for a configured grace period after recovery. Aave’s documentation says the feature was designed particularly for Layer 2 sequencer downtime, while noting that it could be extended to other cases. See the oracle documentation.
That scope matters: the Sentinel is not a promise that all liquidations stop during every inaccurate, stale or compromised price feed, nor evidence that every Aave V3 market has the same configuration. Check the relevant market’s deployment and current state. A user cannot change the protocol’s oracle source or Sentinel settings.

5. Compare the supported ways to improve a health factor
Aave identifies adding collateral and repaying borrowed assets as ways to improve the health factor. Which is practical depends on your position, the tokens you hold and the transaction conditions.

These actions do not repair an oracle feed. Their suitability depends on your position and transaction, liquidity and market risks; there is no universally best action or safe amount for every borrower. Review the transaction details and available preview before signing. Aave’s borrower help discusses health-factor changes and names DeFi Simulator for simulation and DeFi Saver for auto-repay. Those tools are optional; their availability and security are not established here, and automation cannot correct oracle data or guarantee protection from liquidation.
6. Know who can change protocol settings
Oracle management and emergency controls belong to authorized protocol roles, not ordinary borrowers. Aave’s role documentation describes ASSET_LISTING_ADMIN as able to update oracle sources and the fallback oracle; RISK_ADMIN can adjust certain risk parameters and Sentinel grace periods; EMERGENCY_ADMIN can pause or unpause a pool or reserve; and POOL_ADMIN has broader powers. These are documented capabilities, not evidence that any role holder has acted in a particular incident. A borrower’s practical options are to verify the position, use supported position-management actions where appropriate, and follow official updates.
7. Continue monitoring as conditions change
Prices, debt and protocol controls can change after an initial alert. Recheck your position and official updates when the reported issue, oracle status or market state changes. If the Sentinel applies, its configured recovery grace period may also affect when restricted operations become available; confirm the configuration for the market rather than assuming a universal duration.
