Then compare the app’s status with the bank or wallet entry: a pending bank authorization after a failed deposit is different from money deducted but not credited, and both differ from a withdrawal the operator has processed but your bank has not received.
Identify which payment problem you have
Check the payment’s direction and status in both places. The betting app may show an attempt, completed deposit, approved withdrawal or processed withdrawal; your bank or wallet may show no entry, a pending authorization, a posted transaction or a reversal. A bank entry marked pending by itself does not prove that the app credited a deposit.

If a deposit shows as pending at your bank
Look in the betting app’s transaction history for a completed deposit and check whether the available balance changed. DraftKings’ US guidance says successful deposits appear in its available balance and transaction history; an unsuccessful attempt may not appear as a completed deposit even if the bank statement shows it as pending. DraftKings estimates that such failed-attempt entries can clear in 3–5 business days. That is DraftKings’ estimate for its service, not a universal deadline: follow the relevant operator’s payment guidance.

Do not immediately submit another deposit. Virgin Bet advises customers to refresh the app first because retrying before the balance updates can create duplicate transactions. If the app still does not show a completed deposit, check the operator’s help guidance or contact its official support channel.

If money was deducted but not credited to your account
Record the amount, date and time, payment method, app and bank statuses, and any transaction reference. Save a screenshot or statement showing the transaction. Contact the operator using the support route in its app or official help centre; do not rely on an unsolicited message or an unofficial link.
Submit only the evidence the operator requests, and use its authenticated upload channel. For example, BetMGM UK asks customers reporting a deducted but uncredited deposit for evidence showing their name, account number, payment-method logo, transaction reference and date, submitted through its secure process. Requirements vary by operator, so check the instructions for the specific app.

If an approved withdrawal has not arrived
Check whether the operator says it received your request, approved it or processed it. These statuses are not interchangeable: a request that has not been approved may still be with the operator, while a processed payment may be clearing through a provider or bank.
Use the operator’s own estimate for the payment method and location. As one UK-specific example, Virgin Bet says approved withdrawals typically take 1–5 business days to clear, subject to the provider. It asks customers to contact support with transaction details and a bank statement if the money has not arrived after five full business days.

For an overdue withdrawal that the operator says it processed, ask whether it can provide an Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) or another trace reference for that payment method. Give the reference to your bank’s payments team and ask it to trace the transfer. Virgin Bet recommends asking for an ARN in its UK withdrawal guidance; availability and terminology depend on the payment rail.
Send evidence safely and respond to checks
- Keep a record of the transaction details, screenshots, support case number and correspondence.
- Verify the support address or upload page through the app or the operator’s official website before sending documents. Never send passwords, one-time passcodes or full card details.
- If the operator asks for identity or payment-source documents, use its authenticated channel and ask what it needs and why if that is unclear.
For operators regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, the Commission says operators should normally request information at the earliest reasonable opportunity. New checks may still be necessary when legal obligations apply or circumstances could not reasonably have been identified earlier. It also says customers should generally receive reasons for a withdrawal delay, except where doing so could risk tipping off someone or prejudice an investigation.

Escalate through the right complaint route
- Contact the operator. Explain whether the issue is a pending deposit, an uncredited deduction or an overdue withdrawal. Include the transaction date, amount, method, status and reference, and state what outcome you want.
- Use its formal complaints process if support does not resolve it. Keep the complaint reference and all replies.
- Check the route for your location. In Great Britain, the Gambling Commission advises customers to complain to the gambling business first. It says it does not resolve individual complaints or recover a customer’s money; complaints can inform its regulatory work. Elsewhere, identify the regulator and dispute-resolution route that apply to your location and the operator’s licensed entity.
The Commission has said withdrawal problems were the number one topic raised with its Contact Centre, which received over 6,000 calls annually from consumers and prospective licensees in the context of its 2023 blog. That figure describes enquiries, not the number or rate of missing betting-app payments.
Know which withdrawal rules apply
Rights depend on where you are, which company operates the app and whether the funds are in the gambling account or still part of a bank-side pending authorization. For operators regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, customers must be allowed to withdraw their deposit balance at any time, including while a bonus is pending or active, except where a general regulatory obligation requires otherwise. The Commission also says deposit and bonus balances must be displayed separately, wagering requirements must not apply to play using the customer’s deposit balance, and withdrawal fees may be charged only on fair, transparent and cost-reflective terms under the stated conditions. These rules concern funds in the operator account; they do not mean a pending bank authorization has been transferred to the operator.

UK Commission guidance also recognizes that unusual activity, fraud prevention, money-laundering duties and other legal requirements can prompt checks. It says operators should not hold funds unnecessarily or ask at withdrawal for information they could reasonably have requested earlier. These are UK regulatory expectations, not worldwide rules.
