Compare a crypto card by the full cost of spending and withdrawing, whether you can get it where you live, its account-specific limits, and what happens to your crypto and any resulting fiat. A “no transaction fee” claim may still leave you paying a conversion spread, foreign-exchange markup, or ATM charge. No single card is best for everyone: the terms depend on country, card program, account status, and sometimes card tier.
Start with eligibility, not the card network
A Visa or Mastercard logo tells you which merchants may accept a card; it does not mean the issuer offers it in your country or that you qualify. Check the provider’s current application flow and the agreement for your place of residence. Confirm whether the offer is the same card program described in a comparison, and whether you can get a physical card, a virtual card, or both.

- Binance Card Global Program: Binance says the program may not be available in every jurisdiction. The terms for this global program should not be assumed to apply to another regional card offer. Binance’s Global Program fee and limit page gives its current scope and conditions.
- Crypto.com Visa Card: Crypto.com says availability is subject to jurisdictional limitations, and its issuers and arrangements differ across markets. Check the local product terms rather than treating the brand’s general card page as a universal offer. Crypto.com’s card page describes the product and its jurisdictional qualifications.
Calculate the all-in cost of a purchase
Do not compare cards using only the line labelled “transaction fee.” Work out which asset is used to fund a purchase, how it is converted, and which exchange rate and charges apply. A useful cost checklist is:
Recommended Free Tools
- The card provider’s purchase or transaction fee.
- A crypto conversion charge, if crypto is sold to fund the purchase.
- The spread or execution rate used for that sale, compared with the rate you expect.
- A foreign-exchange (FX) charge if the purchase currency differs from the card’s currency.
These charges can be separate. For example, Coinbase says it does not charge a Coinbase transaction fee for card purchases made using local currency, USDC, or supported cryptocurrency, but it says a spread applies when buying, selling, or trading crypto. Coinbase also says crypto is automatically converted to US dollars for purchases and ATM withdrawals. “No Coinbase transaction fee” therefore does not mean every crypto-funded purchase has no conversion cost. See Coinbase’s US card fee details.

Include ATM and foreign-exchange costs
Cash withdrawal costs can include a provider fee, an ATM operator’s own charge, and FX costs if you withdraw a different currency. A free allowance may apply only up to a monthly amount, while the provider may also set a withdrawal cap or frequency limit. Check whether the allowance resets monthly and whether the fee applies to the amount above it or to the full withdrawal, as specified in your terms.

“Card limit” can refer to several different caps: how much you can spend in one purchase, total purchases in a day or month, how much you can top up, or how much you can withdraw from an ATM. These limits may have different reset periods and can depend on verification level or card tier. Read the relevant row in the provider’s current schedule rather than assuming one limit covers all uses.

Before applying, look for transaction-level caps as well as daily, monthly, and annual totals; check whether a limit is rolling or resets on a calendar schedule; and verify whether the cap applies to loading, purchases, or cash access. If a provider only shows your limit after sign-in, treat the dashboard as the account-specific source rather than estimating a typical value.
Ask what “custody” means for this card
A crypto card can involve different assets and account arrangements at different points in a transaction. To understand the risks, ask when crypto is sold, who holds the resulting fiat or any collateral, which company issues the card, which company operates the program, and what the local agreement says about access to funds if a provider or issuer fails.

- Collateral and program operator: Binance describes its Global Card Program as operated by Immersve Limited. It says card transactions at Mastercard merchants are made up to the amount of virtual-asset collateral assigned in the user’s Binance Account. This is a specific program description, not evidence that other providers use the same arrangement. Binance Global Program disclosure.
- Issuer and local protections: Identify the legal issuer and the provider that holds or converts funds under the agreement for your country. A Visa or Mastercard logo establishes a payment network, not a particular deposit guarantee, safeguarding regime, or insolvency outcome.
Spending crypto by converting or selling it may also have tax consequences in your country. Coinbase’s page discusses US tax treatment for its US card; that explanation should not be generalized to other jurisdictions. Consult the rules that apply where you are tax resident. A practical comparison before applying
- Confirm eligibility: check your country of residence, identity requirements, local product agreement, and whether the physical or virtual card you want is available.
- Trace one typical purchase: note the funding asset, conversion method and rate, provider charge, card currency, and any FX markup.
- Price cash access separately: check the free monthly allowance, fee beyond it, withdrawal caps, and possible ATM-operator charges.
- Read each limit independently: record per-transaction and daily, monthly, or annual caps for purchases, top-ups, and ATM withdrawals, including reset rules and account-tier effects.
- Read the custody and issuer terms: identify conversion timing, who holds the fiat or collateral, the card issuer and program operator, and the agreement that governs your country.
- Evaluate rewards last: account for eligibility, exclusions, tier requirements, and reward-token value before deciding whether the net benefit is worthwhile.
