The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX is a Radeon RX 7000 Series desktop graphics card launched on December 13, 2022. AMD lists 24 GB of GDDR6 memory, 96 compute units, a 2,300 MHz game frequency, and boost frequency up to 2,500 MHz. For a build, the practical checks are a recommended 800 W or greater power supply, two 8-pin power connectors, and enough case clearance for the exact card.

What the power figures mean for a PC build
AMD lists 355 W as typical board power, while its recommended minimum system power supply is 800 W or greater with 12 V output above 65 A. These numbers describe different things: board power is the card’s typical power figure, whereas the PSU recommendation applies to the complete computer. AMD’s recommendation is based on a system with a Ryzen 9 5900X and typical component power; its product page cautions, “Your system requirements may differ.”
#1 Best Overall
- Flagship Gaming Performance, AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU with 2615 MHz boost clock and 24GB GDDR6 memory for elite 4K gaming
- Advanced RDNA 3 Architecture, 96 compute units with RT+AI accelerators and 96MB AMD Infinity Cache technology
- Premium Cooling Solution, Phantom Gaming 3X Cooling System with Striped Ring Fans and reinforced metal frame
- High-Speed Memory, 24GB GDDR6 on 384-bit memory bus delivers exceptional bandwidth for 4K gaming and content creation
- Silent Operation, 0dB Silent Cooling technology ensures zero fan noise during low-intensity tasks
- Confirm the power supply meets the stated wattage and 12 V output condition, and has two 8-pin connectors available for the card.
- Consider the power requirements of the rest of the build rather than treating 800 W as a guarantee of compatibility for every system.
- Check the requirements for the specific RX 7900 XTX model you plan to use; partner-card details can differ from the reference specification.
Check card clearance and exact model dimensions
AMD’s listed reference dimensions are 287 mm in length and 2.5 slots in thickness. These are useful starting points, not a fit guarantee for every RX 7900 XTX: partner cards can use different coolers and dimensions. Compare the exact card’s measurements with your case’s graphics-card clearance and available slot space before buying. AMD’s product specifications page provides the reference figures; the partner-specific dimensions must be checked against the exact model listing.

Display connections and media formats
AMD lists DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB Type-C connectivity, along with AV1, H.264, and H.265/HEVC video encode and decode support. Check the port selection on the exact board: a partner model’s physical outputs are the details that matter when matching monitors and cables.
Operating-system support
AMD lists Windows 11 64-bit, Windows 10 64-bit, Ubuntu x86-64, and Linux x86-64. For current driver packages, use AMD’s driver support page; the supported operating-system list does not itself specify a driver version.

AMD’s November 3, 2022 launch announcement named ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte, MSI, PowerColor, Sapphire, Vastarmor, XFX, and Yeston as board partners. That announcement is historical and does not establish present stock or active product lines.
Performance figures and launch price in context
The 61.4 TFLOPs FP32 figure and clock specifications are manufacturer-listed theoretical specifications, not a substitute for game benchmarks. They do not establish how the card performs in a particular game or how it ranks against other current graphics cards. AMD’s launch announcement stated a suggested e-tail price of $999 USD; that was the launch-era announced price, not current retail pricing or availability.
