Before accepting a global capability center (GCC) offer, compare the offer letter with the full employment agreement and confirm what is guaranteed, where and for whom you will work, and what the terms mean if the job changes or ends. Ask the employer to put material promises and clarifications in writing. A GCC label does not determine your employment rights: those depend on the actual employer, work location, worker classification, and applicable local law.
Start by verifying the employer and the written offer
Confirm the legal name of the entity that will employ you, not just the parent company or the GCC brand. Verify the role and recruiter through the employer’s official careers or HR channels. For example, Randstad’s official GCC site links candidates to career opportunities and benefits information; use the relevant employer’s own channels rather than relying solely on a message or informal promise.

Ask for the complete employment agreement and any documents it incorporates before you accept. Compare it line by line with the offer letter, including role, pay, benefits, location, and start date. Resolve mismatches in writing, and check whether policies are part of the agreement and whether the employer may change them. An offer letter may not contain every term that governs the employment relationship.

Confirm the job title, level or grade, main duties, reporting manager, team, and normal work location. Clarify whether the arrangement is office-based, hybrid, or remote; the expected working hours and travel; and whether the employer can transfer you to another site, legal entity, or client team. A broad transfer clause can matter even if the initial work arrangement sounds specific.

Because a GCC often works with a parent organization, ask what the local team actually owns and how it works with parent-company teams and business stakeholders. Find out which decisions the team can make, what products or processes it supports, and how your work will be evaluated. These details are specific to the employer and role, so ask the hiring manager rather than inferring them from the GCC label.
Separate guaranteed pay from conditional compensation
Break the headline package into fixed salary, variable bonus, equity, allowances, and benefits. Ask which amounts are guaranteed and which depend on performance, company discretion, policy, or continued employment. Confirm how performance is measured, when each payment is made, and whether you must still be employed on the payment date to qualify. Check whether any deductions or repayment terms could reduce what you receive.
Compare offers using guaranteed annual cash separately from conditional pay. Then assess benefits and total value, alongside role scope, work arrangements, and contractual obligations. The available sources do not establish market salary benchmarks or say which employer is better; the comparison has to reflect your priorities and the written terms.
Understand probation, confirmation, and notice
Ask how long probation lasts, whether it can be extended, what review process applies, and what criteria or process lead to confirmation. Confirm the notice period for both sides during probation and after confirmation, including whether pay in lieu of notice is allowed and how it is calculated. Do not assume those terms are the same at every employer or in every jurisdiction.

Review benefits and working conditions for your location
Ask HR to specify the leave, working hours, weekly rest, overtime arrangements, health coverage, retirement or social-security contributions, and other benefits that apply to your role. Distinguish employer-provided benefits from legal entitlements, and verify the latter against the rules for your actual work location and worker classification. The term “GCC” does not establish a common set of employment benefits or legal minimums.
Read clauses that can affect future work or create repayment obligations
Identify confidentiality and intellectual-property terms, conflict-of-interest or moonlighting restrictions, non-compete or non-solicitation clauses, training bonds, clawbacks, and other repayment obligations. Ask what each clause covers, how long it lasts, and when it may apply. If a term could materially limit future work or require significant repayment, seek local legal advice before accepting; the enforceability and effect of these provisions depend on applicable law and the facts.

Apply the right jurisdiction’s rules
Employment law follows the relevant jurisdiction and facts—not the employer’s global brand. The employer, work location, worker classification, and applicable country and state or province can all matter. Available GCC-specific legal commentary is India-focused; it should not be treated as a universal rule for GCC jobs.
For India-based work, the Ministry of Labour and Employment’s Year End Review 2025, published on 30 December 2025, reports that the four labour codes took effect on 21 November 2025, consolidating 29 central labour laws. That is context about legal reform, not an answer to how a particular offer or clause applies. Check the rules relevant to the state, role, and employment arrangement before relying on a specific entitlement.

In India-focused commentary, Zuber Syed, Founder & Managing Partner of Zuber & Partners, writes: “The contract is not the risk. The gap between the contract and the statute is the risk.” This is a practitioner’s observation, not a regulator or court ruling. Its practical point is to compare written terms with the law that actually applies.

- Does the full agreement match the offer letter on role, pay, benefits, location, and start date?
- Which compensation elements are guaranteed, and which are conditional or discretionary?
- How do probation, confirmation, and notice work for each side?
- What are the normal hours, work pattern, travel expectations, and overtime arrangements?
- Can I be transferred to another location, entity, or client team?
- What does the local GCC team own, and how does it work with the parent organization?
- Which confidentiality, IP, non-compete, non-solicitation, repayment, or clawback terms apply?
- How will success be measured, and what training, internal mobility, and promotion criteria are available?
Use a checklist to make the final decision
- Employer: Legal employing entity and offer authenticity verified through official channels.
- Role: Duties, level, manager, team mandate, and success measures understood.
- Work arrangements: Location, remote or hybrid terms, hours, travel, and transfer rights clarified.
- Compensation: Guaranteed pay separated from variable compensation, equity, allowances, and benefits.
- Agreement: Offer letter and full agreement aligned; incorporated policies and change rights reviewed.
- Employment terms: Probation, confirmation, notice, and pay in lieu understood.
- Benefits and law: Benefits documented and statutory entitlements checked for the actual work location.
- Future obligations: IP, confidentiality, restrictions, and repayment clauses understood, with advice sought where material.
- Growth: Training, internal mobility, and promotion criteria discussed with the hiring team.
Accept only after material discrepancies and unanswered questions are resolved in writing. Where a clause or local entitlement could materially affect you, have a qualified local employment lawyer review the specific agreement and circumstances.
