Bring your ticket or badge details, a charged phone with the schedule saved, a payment card and some cash, and—if the event allows it—a small, comfortable, non-wheeled bag. Check the specific expo’s current rules before packing a water bottle, snacks, or a larger carrier: bag checks, food policies, and allowed containers vary by event.
What should I bring to a retro gaming expo?
- Ticket or badge information: Keep your QR code or admission confirmation easy to reach, and follow the organizer’s instructions for pickup and display. RetroGameCon, for example, requires badges to be clearly displayed above the waist.
- A charged phone: Save the schedule, maps, ticket details, and any meeting information where you can access them offline. RetroGameCon says it has no public Wi-Fi, so screenshots or downloaded details are useful there; check the current FAQ for your event.
- Payment options: Bring a card and some cash. Vendor payment methods differ, and an on-site ATM may not be a dependable backup.
- A small daypack, if permitted: A compact, non-wheeled bag can hold personal essentials and purchases. Confirm the expo’s size and screening rules before you go.
- A short shopping list and budget: A list of games, consoles, accessories, or other items you are looking for can help you browse a large marketplace without losing track of your spending. Stock and prices vary by vendor.
- Water only if the rules allow it: Some events allow a bottle, some require it to be empty on entry, and some prohibit outside drinks.
You generally do not need to bring a console or controller just to use free-play areas. RetroGameCon advertises maintained free-play systems, but that does not establish the rules or setup at other expos.

Can I bring a bag or backpack into the expo?
Often, but do not assume every bag is allowed. Retro World Expo says small bags and backpacks are permitted and may be inspected. RetroGameCon conducts bag checks and metal-detector screening, and prohibits suitcases, handcarts, trolleys, oversized strollers, rolling luggage, and wheeled backpacks. These are examples of two organizers’ policies, not a universal rule.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor an event that permits bags, a small non-wheeled daypack is usually a more practical choice than luggage: it is easier to carry through crowded aisles and avoids restrictions on rolling carriers. Check the current event FAQ for permitted size, screening, and any rules about storage. RetroGameCon says it has no coat check or public storage, so do not count on leaving a large bag at the venue.

Should I bring cash, or will vendors take cards?
Bring both a payment card and some cash. RetroGameCon’s official FAQ says, “Most vendors DO accept credit cards and other electronic payments. However, it is always a good idea to bring some cash just in case!” Its lobby ATM may run out. Retro World Expo likewise notes that payment methods vary and some vendors may accept only cash. Neither example guarantees that every vendor at another expo will take a particular payment method.
Can I bring water, snacks, or outside food?
Check the specific organizer’s policy before packing anything to eat or drink. RetroGameCon prohibits outside food and beverages but allows empty water bottles. Retro World Expo allows a single bottle of water or another drink, but prohibits outside food. If the rules are unclear, check the official FAQ or contact the organizer rather than relying on another event’s policy.
