RoboForm is a password manager that combines password storage and autofill with form filling, password generation, passkey management, password auditing, and a built-in TOTP authenticator. Its main plan distinction is straightforward: Free is presented for one device, Premium for use across devices, and Family for up to five Premium accounts. RoboForm describes its encryption as zero-knowledge, but that is the company’s account of its own security model—not an independent guarantee. The pricing figures below are amounts displayed on RoboForm’s pages for this review and may change.
What RoboForm does
RoboForm is designed to store login credentials and fill them into websites and apps. Its published feature set also includes form filling, a password generator, passkey management, password auditing, bookmarks, and SafeNotes. RoboForm lists an integrated TOTP authenticator, breach monitoring, sharing, cloud backup, offline access, and Emergency Access among its capabilities; check the live plan comparison to confirm which plan includes a particular feature.

RoboForm says Premium supports one-click logins and access across devices. Its published compatibility information lists Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Linux, and Chrome OS, plus extensions for major browsers. These are platform claims, not a guarantee that every current operating-system or browser version is supported; verify compatibility before adopting it for a specific device.
Which RoboForm plan fits?
The useful distinction is not simply how many passwords you need to store. Consider how many devices need access, whether several people need separate accounts, and whether you need business administration. The amounts in the table are those displayed on RoboForm’s official pricing pages in the reviewed page snapshot; pricing, currency, taxes, promotions, renewal terms, and included features can vary or change.

| Family | Up to five Premium accounts with unified billing, according to RoboForm. | $3.98 per month billed annually; the page states a $47.75 annual renewal. | Households that need multiple individual accounts under one billing arrangement. |

Before subscribing, check the checkout currency, taxes, any introductory offer, renewal amount, cancellation terms, and the current plan comparison. The listed business rate is per user and billed annually; compare the renewal amount for the number of seats your organization actually needs.
Free versus Premium
RoboForm’s personal page positions Free as single-device use and Premium as cross-device access. If your main requirement is access from both a phone and a computer, that distinction is more consequential than the password-storage limit: the page says Free includes unlimited passwords, but limits use to one device. Confirm the live feature table for other differences rather than assuming that every capability appears in every plan.

- One click logins to your web accounts with the embedded RoboForm browser.
- Enable the accessibility object to AutoFill your RoboForm data in Silk and other browsers and supported apps.
- Keep all your passwords in one place.
- Your data is protected with AES 256 encryption.
- You are the only one who knows your Master Password. We don’t save or store that information anywhere giving you complete protection.
When Family makes sense
Family is described as including up to five Premium accounts with unified billing. Separate accounts are relevant when household members should manage their own credentials rather than share one vault. Whether Family costs less than buying individual Premium subscriptions depends on the current prices and number of people; the displayed prices above are not a live cost comparison.

Business and Enterprise
RoboForm’s business materials describe a central admin center, separate personal and work vaults, secure sharing, SSO, SCIM provisioning, security policies, role-based controls, reporting, and audit features. Enterprise is presented for larger environments with tailored pricing and options including onboarding, support, an SLA, and self-hosting. These organizational controls are distinct from the personal plan features; a business buyer should confirm the specific controls, deployment model, and contract terms in the current business offering.

How RoboForm describes its security
RoboForm says its service uses AES-256 encryption and PBKDF2-SHA256, and describes its architecture as zero knowledge. Its security page says, “All decryption happens on your device and not on our servers.” These are the vendor’s descriptions of its design, not proof that an account or device cannot be compromised. Security in practice also depends on protecting the devices and account credentials used to access the vault.
RoboForm’s security page lists passkeys, trusted devices, hardware security keys, email, SMS, and TOTP apps among its two-factor authentication options. A hardware key is optional, not a requirement. If you choose one, confirm that the specific key is compatible with RoboForm before buying it.

RoboForm’s business-user security help article says the Master Password is used to encrypt and decrypt RoboForm data, that RoboForm does not know it, and that the company cannot recover it if it is lost. That is an important trade-off: a recovery or continuity feature should not be mistaken for recovery of the Master Password itself. Because this explanation is specifically in the business-user help article, business users should consult it in context and personal users should check the documentation for their own account type.

Emergency Access is a separate continuity feature. Consider who should be trusted with access and what waiting period suits your circumstances before relying on it. Details are in RoboForm’s Emergency Access support article.
What to check before subscribing
- Devices: Check whether one-device Free use is enough or whether you need Premium’s cross-device access.
- People and account structure: For a household, confirm the Family account limit and the current plan details. For an organization, distinguish the business admin model from personal vault use.
- Required capabilities: Use the live plan comparison to verify that the plan you choose includes the features you rely on, such as sharing, breach monitoring, Emergency Access, or particular authentication options.
- Renewal and billing: Confirm the amount charged at renewal, billing currency and cadence, tax, cancellation terms, and any promotional pricing shown at checkout.
- Compatibility and recovery: Verify current support for your operating-system and browser versions, and understand the Master Password and account-continuity implications before storing important credentials.
Verdict
RoboForm’s published feature set covers the core password-manager tasks and adds form filling, auditing, passkeys, TOTP authentication, and continuity features. Its plan structure is clearest when viewed through device count and account type: one device for Free, cross-device personal use with Premium, up to five accounts with Family, and organizational controls through Business or tailored Enterprise offerings. The security description is informative but remains vendor-stated, and the displayed prices should be confirmed at checkout. RoboForm is a plausible fit if those plan boundaries and features match your needs; this evidence does not establish comparative performance or independent user satisfaction.
